NVIDIA boosts GeForce 3

NVIDIA has introduced the GeForce Titanium Series, a new line of Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) that deliver improved performance over existing GeForce2 and GeForce3 product lines. The GeForce3 Titanium 500 features a core clock rate of 240 MHz and memory at 500 MHz DDR, compared to a core of 200 MHz and memory of 460 MHz on the original GeForce3. The new GeForce3 Titanium 200 and GeForce2 Titanium feature similarly improved performance over their existing counterparts. The new chipsets are expected to begin shipping in products from select PC OEM manufacturers in the coming months, including Compaq, HP, and NEC. Apple has not yet announced whether it will be incorporating the new GeForce Titanium series into its Power Mac G4 line. NVIDIA representatives report that the GeForce3 Titanium series hardware is nearly identical in design to existing products, making the incorporation of the Titanium series into Apple’s product line a near seamless transition.
