New Canon cameras and printer interface directly

Canon today introduced two new digital cameras, the PowerShot S30 and S40, which the company bills as upper-mid-range solutions. Apart from their different resolutions, the S30 (3 megapixel) and S40 (4 megapixel) are identical cameras that feature a 3x optical zoom, three-point auto focus, manual focus, and other features. The cameras sell for US$599 and $799, respectively, and include a 16MB CompactFlash card. The cameras are also the first to be compatible with Canon’s new S820D Buble Jet photo printer, a USB printer with a 2400×1200 dpi resolution that can produce prints directly from the cameras, without the need for a computer. The Mac-compatible printer will be available early next year for $399. An optional $99 LCD image viewer will also be available that attaches to the printer.
