LCD shipments skyrocket as prices decline

Shipments of LCD displays have more than doubled in the past year to 2.9 million units in the second quarter, according to Display Search (as noted by Macworld UK). The report offers more numbers and statistics than can be digested in one sitting, including that average selling prices fell 16 percent sequentially during the second quarter, and are expected to drop another 20 percent during the third quarter, which will increase shipments this quarter to 4.0 million. Suffice to say, the future has LCD displays written all over it, something that Apple acknowledged earlier this year when it moved to an all-LCD line up of displays.
