Faster DSL standard targets larger businesses

A new DSL standard, dubbed G.HSDSL (symmetric high-speed digital subscribe line) will deliver data both upstream and downstream at speeds of up 2.3Mbps, or even 4.6Mbps per second (significantly faster than a T1). The technology is targeted at larger businesses, where the speed and distance limitations of today’s technology makes DSL connections less appealing over large networks. Analysts expect some regions in Europe to offer the service as early as next quarter, and as early as next year in the US.
