Sony announces five-megapixel digital camera

Sony today introduced the CyberShot DSC-F707, its first five-megapixel digital camera. Aimed at the high-end consumer market, the camera is capable of taking photographs with a maximum image size of 2560×1720. The camera also features Carl Zeiss optics, a 5x optical zoom with F2.0 aperture, two LCDs (1.8-inch screen and an eye-level electronic viewfinder), NightShot infrared image capture, and more. The CyberShot DSC-707 includes a 16MB Memory Stick and InfoLithium M battery and will sell for about US$1,000. Availability is unknown.
