Apple to shell out $85 million on retail stores by year’s end

Bloomberg is reporting that Apple plans to spend US$85 million by December 31 on their retail stores — this according to the company’s quarterly SEC filing. Other items of note in the regulatory filing are that Apple has entered into lease commitments totaling about $203 million and they expected to see their retail operation turn a “slight profit” by September 2002.
