HP introduces five new scanners

HP today announced five new scanners, including the Photo Scanner 1000, a US$99 USB scanner that makes it easy to scan photos up to 4″x6″ with “photo-quality” results. The scanner features a 300 dpi optical resolution and 30-bit color. HP also introduced the Scanjet 4400c, 4470c, 5470c, and 5490c, upgraded versions of their predecessors that feature HP scanning technology previously found only on higher-end models. The 4400c and 4470c feature a 1200 dpi optical resolution, 48-bit color, and sell for $149 and $199, respectively (the 4470c includes a transparency adapter). The 5470c and 5490c deliver twice the resolution of the 44xx series, as well as a 25-sheet document feeder on the 5490c. Prices for those models is $299 and $399. All five scanners will ship in August.
