Apple a founding member of HyperTransport consortium

Apple is one of nine leading tech companies that have formed the HyperTransport Technology Consortium, a group that supports the future development and adoption of AMD’s HyperTransport technology. HyperTransport technology is similar in functionality to a PCI bus, but can transfer data at up to 6.4GB/sec, some 50 times faster than PCI. “HyperTransport represents a great technology with exciting future potential,” said Apple senior VP of Hardware Engineering Jon Rubinstein. Other members of the consortium include AMD, Cisco, nVIDIA, and Sun.
