Apple recalls 570,000 PowerBook G3 adapters

Apple today issued a voluntary recall of all PowerBook G3 adapters manufactured from May 1998 through March 2000. Apple will replace free of charge any two-prong PowerBook G3 adapters manufactured during that time. “The affected AC adapters could overheat, posing a fire hazard. Apple received six reports of these adapters overheating. No injuries have been reported. Apple urges you to order a replacement adapter immediately and not to leave your current AC adapter unattended while plugged into any power outlet.”
