Hitachi debuts DVD-RAM camcorder

Hitachi today introduced the DZ-MV100A, the world’s first DVD-RAM camcorder, which captures MPEG video or JPEG photos on an eight centimetre DVD disc. The camcorder can capture up to one hour of high-quality video, two hours of standard video, or nearly 2000 photos at a resolution of 1280×960. The camera features USB connectivity for quick access, but is targeted at systems with DVD-RAM drives (the media is not compatible with ordinary DVD drives). The DZ-MV100A will sell for US$1,999.
