New iBook availability looking good

Apple dealers in the U.S. report receiving new iBooks faster than they ever thought they would. Ten days since their debut, a large number of dealers contacted by MacMinute confirm receiving a good number of low-end iBooks with CD-ROM to fill orders as well as DVD-ROM models. “They are trickling in, but we really didn’t expect any this soon,” one dealer told us. No dealers we contacted report getting CD-RW or DVD/CD-RW combo units as of yet. Because the educational channel is expected to take large numbers of the new laptop, dealers are being told availability will dry up in the coming weeks as inventories will be targeted at schools, but will loosen up again in mid-June.
