Register.com Launches Free URL Forwarding Services

New Free URL forwarding service allows customers to register a customized
name and have it point it to any Internet site at no extra cost

New York, NY – June 7, 2000 – Register.com, Inc. (Nasdaq: RCOM) today
announced the launch of its new free URL forwarding service, allowing
register.com customers to point their domain names to existing sites on the
Internet for free. Through URL forwarding, customers can drive traffic to
Web sites by registering personalized names, such as www.mybrand.com, and
have that name bring Web users to any site on the Internet, such as
www.bargainisp.com/mybrand. As part of the free service, a register.com
navigation bar is inserted in a frame at the bottom of the forwarded site
page.

Customers can use register.com’s free URL Forwarding services in the
following ways:
To forward their domain name to an existing Web site hosted by an Internet
Service Provider (ISP);
To forward their domain name to any free Web space on a community site; To
have multiple domain names pointed to a single site, maximizing the flow of
traffic to their business or personal Web page; To create a personalized
portal by generating multiple sub-domains and having each forwarded to
existing web pages. For example, a customer registering
www.urlforwarding.com can have that domain name point to one existing Web
site, while creating various second-level domains – such as
help.urlforwarding.com and news.urlforwarding.com, which can point to
completely different sites on the Internet. All second-level domains can be
reached through the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen.

Free URL forwarding is just one of three URL forwarding options
register.com provides. For $49 per year, customers can purchase either
Platinum URL Forwarding, which eliminates the register.com branded
navigation bar at the bottom of the computer screen, or Platinum URL
Forwarding with Domain Name-Stay, which both eliminates the navigation bar
and displays the forwarded domain name in the navigation bar of the browser.

“With the launch of register.com’s new free URL forwarding service, there’s
no reason for anyone with a Web site not to have a personalized or branded
domain name,” said Richard Forman, President and CEO of register.com. “A
good domain name makes it much easier for people to find a Web site,
whether they are customers, fellow-hobbyists or family and friends. By
using register.com domain registration services and now free URL
forwarding, our customers not only have the power of a good domain name,
but they can make it work for them simply, quickly and affordably.”

Customers using register.com’s free URL forwarding can make unlimited,
real-time modifications to their URL forwarding accounts, allowing them to
point their domain name to different Web sites instantaneously and at will.

“Free URL forwarding is just the latest example of the innovative products
and services register.com is building into domain registration,” said Matt
Danilchick, Director of Project Management at register.com. “Increasingly,
customers are realizing that the value of their name hinges on their
ability to make it do what they need it to do. Our goal is to provide the
services that not only help our customers secure the right name, but give
them the capability to get the maximum value out of it on an ongoing basis.”
