It’s my pleasure to introduce you to a major revision of the shareware
program PhotoCat (version 3.0). PhotoCat allows you to build catalogs of
pictures easily, for example from a Photo-CD. It’s a great tool for working
quickly and efficiently with a large database of pictures. It’s also the
ideal tool to put one’s holiday pictures in order. PhotoCat Player is the
companion program of PhotoCat. The PhotoCat Suite is fully OS 8 / 9
compatible.

PhotoCat allows you to :
QUICKLY CATALOG whole disks, using flexible filter options…
EASILY INDEX records thanks to powerfull automatic mechanisms…
DIRECTLY MANAGE the original image files from within PhotoCat…
WIDELY DISTRIBUTE slide shows and catalogs using PhotoCat Player…
AUTOMATICALLY BUILD web sites or FileMaker databases from catalogs…

PhotoCat is able to catalog files containing pictures in a variety of
formats (every QuickTime compatible formats along with ART and EPSF
formats). It records some information about each image (format, dimensions,
resolution, etc) and creates a thumbnail of each one. You can attach a
name, a category, a long description, a comment and keywords to each image
in order make it easy to search the catalog against criteria you choose.
PhotoCat has powerful multicriteria search capabilities. Searching is fast,
even when the catalog contains thousands of images. PhotoCat also includes
some very efficient tools for updating and managing a catalog and the
original image files occupying a whole disk or volume.

You can distribute PhotoCat catalogs and slide shows without including the
whole PhotoCat program. This is done by means of a separate Player
application (you need a separate licence to distribute the Player).
PhotoCat Player can also be used across a Macintosh network. PhotoCat is
also able to build a searchable web database from a catalog. There is no
need for any knowledge about html or javascript languages. PhotoCat does it
for you and it lets you distribute your images on any other platforms
(compatible with a web browser)…

PhotoCat is designed to be used on Apple Macintosh computers. The preferred
configuration is: a PowerPC with at least 24Mb of RAM running MacOS 8 or 9,
with QuickTime 3 or 4. The minimum configuration is a Mac with 68020
processor running System 7.1 or later. AppleEvent Manager and QuickTime 2.5
are needed. Performance in any machine below 68040 will probably be quite
sluggish.

PhotoCat single user license costs US$ 25. You can download it from its web
site at http://www.macinsearch.com/users/PhotoCat/Index.html. There are an
american edition and a french one. You can download a “fat” application
(for every Macinotsh) or a PPC one (for PowerPC Macinotsh) along with some
examples: catalogs, web sites or slide shows. You can evaluate PhotoCat for
up to 30 days. Unregistered copies of PhotoCat are restricted to a maximum
of 15 thumbnails. Every features are unabled.
