Metrowerks Launches CodeWarriorU.com – The First Free Institute for Online
Programming Study

New Site Offers Free Web-based Programming Instruction Taught by Experts;
Course Topics Include Java, C++ and Programming in C for MacOS and Windows

AUSTIN, Texas – January 5, 2000 – Metrowerks, a leader in software
development tools, today announced CodeWarriorU.com, the first web site to
offer a full suite of free, online programming courses taught by expert
instructors and geared toward developers of all skill levels.

The site, located at www.codewarrioru.com, opens for registration today.
Initial course offerings include introductions to CodeWarrior programming
in C for MacOS and Windows, as well as introductory courses on Java and C++
languages. Advanced courses on these topics will be offered in the future,
as well as courses on programming for embedded systems. In addition, a prep
course will be offered for high school students taking the Advanced
Placement (AP) C++ Exam.

CodeWarriorU.com is the first web site of its kind — no other
programming-tools provider is offering tuition-free, expert-lead, online
education. Courses begin February 2 and last six to eight weeks. To enroll
in CodeWarriorU and register for courses, simply visit www.codewarrioru.com
or www.metrowerks.com.

“CodeWarriorU is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to learn how to
program or enhance their coding skills,” said David Perkins, president and
CEO, Metrowerks. “The broad-based course offerings should appeal to a wide
range of people – from programming novices – to high school and college
students — to experts looking to freshen their skills or widen their
knowledge base.”

CodeWarriorU’s online format offers many advantages: Courses are
instructor-led but can be accessed any time of the day most convenient to
the student. Interactive sessions with instructors and fellow students are
also available and courses feature a myriad of self-assessment and study
materials. Courses are free of charge, though optional course materials may
be purchased directly from the CodeWarriorU site. Enrollees qualify to
purchase CodeWarrior products at reduced prices.

Programmers who complete CodeWarriorU courses will be able to apply their
new skills to any number of desktop and embedded platforms supported by
CodeWarrior. An industry standard integrated development environment,
CodeWarrior is used by more than 200,000 programmers and taught at more
than 1,100 schools and universities worldwide.
