[MD1] RPK Security Announces Encryptonite SDK in Java

RPK SECURITY ANNOUNCES JAVA VERSION OF ITS ENCRYPTONITE SOFTWARE TOOLKIT
FOR SECURITY OF STREAMING MEDIA AND EMBEDDED APPLICATIONS

iTech Ventures chooses RPK for e-commerce, replacing Brokat’s aging
Expresso security package

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, September. 21, 1999 – RPK Security, Inc. (www.rpk.com),
the technology leader in strong and fast public key encryption for
high-data-flow applications, announced today the release of a high-speed
Java version of its Encryptonite Software Toolkit. RPK’s Encryptonite
Software Toolkit for Java allows software developers to easily add globally
strong encryption to stand-alone Java applications or Web browser Java
applets. The RPK Encryptonite Toolkit for Java offers a no-compromise
security solution for Java developers needing platform independence because
it performs at ninety-five percent of the speed of native code versions. It
is ideal for high-data-flow and resource-limited applications like
streaming media, secure music and video delivery, videoconferencing,
e-commerce and embedded applications.

“The RPK Encryptonite Software Toolkit for Java also solves the growing
problem of username/password management,” said Jack Oswald, president RPK
Security. “The Java version supports a transparent Secure Easy Login
mechanism that simplifies the user experience, reduces fraud and increases
security for a merchant’s Web site, providing a simpler, faster, less
expensive, globally strong alternative to a username/password secured by
SSL.”

The RPK Encryptonite Engine, the core technology in all of RPK’s products,
uniquely combines the benefits of public key encryption systems
(authentication, digital signatures/certificates and key management) with
the speed of symmetric systems — in one algorithm. It is unique for
solving the security needs of streaming media applications because it
accommodates variable-sized, garbled, lost or out-of-order packets without
sacrificing performance or security. Its small code size, key management
capabilities and overall high performance make it an ideal solution for
secure music and video delivery (download or streaming), digital
communications, VOIP, VPNs and e-commerce.

“We evaluated a number of encryption products and selected RPK’s technology
to replace Brokat’s for our e-commerce applications, based on RPK’s speed,
performance, high level of security and ease of integration,” said William
Claxton, managing director of iTech Ventures in Singapore. “Our solution
will integrate RPK and vPOS from Verifone (a division of Hewlett Packard
NYSE:HWP) for seamless, transparent globally strong security.”

RPK’s Java Toolkit features:

Platform independent high-speed Java implementation performs at 95% the
rate of native code

Allows development of fully transparent, browser-based security applications

Enables on-the-fly encryption of streaming media, multi-media
conferencing, etc. using Java applets and applications

Provides support for transparent Secure Easy Login

Builds security right into Web pages, eliminating the need for Web
customers to download and pre-install client-side software

High-speed encryption ensures no noticeable performance degradation for
the user

Conforms to JDK 1.1.7, compatible with JDK 1.2

Developed outside the U.S., the Toolkit is available worldwide with
strong encryption.

Pricing and Availability:
The RPK Encryptonite Software Toolkit for Java pricing starts at $695 per
developer (development only). Deployment license fees are based upon the
application. The RPK Encryptonite Toolkit is also available in ANSI
standard C/C++ libraries for Win95/98/NT, HP/UX, Sun Solaris (C only) and
Linux, Delphi 3.0/4.0 VCL component for Win95/NT, DLL and ActiveX. It also
has been compiled and tested with Visual C++, Borland C++ Builder and
gnu/g++.
