MACROMEDIA DELIVERS FREE CUSTOMIZABLE HTML TEMPLATES FOR FIREWORKS 2

Fireworks 2 Customers Using Dreamweaver, GoLive or FrontPage Benefit
from More Efficient Web Workflow

Internet World Spring – Los Angeles, CA – April 14, 1999 –
Macromedia, Inc. (NASDAQ: MACR) today announced new customizable HTML
templates for Fireworks(TM) 2, the newest release of Macromedia’s
award-winning Web graphics production environment. With the new
templates, Fireworks 2 users can export clean, compact HTML code
pre-formatted for Adobe GoLive. The new templates also address
customer requests for specific HTML and JavaScript coding styles. The
new Adobe GoLive templates round out Fireworks 2 support for popular
Web authoring software — including the award-winning Macromedia
Dreamweaver(TM) 2, and Microsoft FrontPage. By tightly integrating
graphics and code, Fireworks 2 enables teams to efficiently manage
Web workflow throughout Web site creation and maintenance. The
templates are now available as a free download from
http://www.macromedia.com/support/fireworks/down_index.fhtml.

“Fireworks 2 has helped us improve productivity with powerful
features for integrated graphics, coding and sitewide editing,” said
Bob Stratton, Director of Design Technology at Rare Medium, which has
developed sites for clients such as General Mills, Mattel, Pfizer,
Microsoft and the New York Times. “With the new customizable HTML
templates, we’re able to quickly process and integrate complex
designs during site development while maintaining a high standard of
quality and consistency in our graphics and code. By automating
repetitive production tasks, Fireworks 2 reduces time spent on
tedious and error-prone tasks, allowing us to focus on the more
creative aspects of design to add value for our customers.”

With the new GoLive templates, Fireworks rollovers display as buttons
and can be previewed in the GoLive interface. Fireworks Hot Spot
behaviors display as GoLive actions on image maps, and can be viewed
and edited in the GoLive inspector. Fireworks disjoint rollovers
display as GoLive actions and can be edited in the GoLive inspector.
In addition, users can customize each template to meet corporate or
client specific HTML and JavaScript coding standards, ensuring a
consistent look and feel across an entire site or project.

“Everyone on the Web design team can use Fireworks with their HTML
editor of choice because of the pre-coded templates for leading Web
authoring software, and the ability to customize those templates,”
said Diana Smedley, senior product manager for Fireworks at
Macromedia. “By tightly integrating Web graphics with the underlying
HTML source code, Fireworks 2 users can customize the best Web
graphics production solution that meets their specific needs. When
using Fireworks with Dreamweaver, customers get the added benefit of
Roundtrip visual editing of Web graphics.”
