[MD1] mapsaVR and revolVR: New Wired Sprite QTVR Authoring Tools

Squamish Media Group Releases New Wired Sprite Authoring Tools for QuickTime VR

Squamish, BC Canada, March 31, 1999 – Squamish Media Group, Inc.,
today announced two new wired sprite authoring tools, mapsaVR and
revolVR, designed for content creators utilizing QuickTime VR on the
web, CD-ROM or DVD. These new tools each provide a unique degree of
functionality, and work together with soundsaVR 1.1, Squamish Media
Group’s popular wired sprite tool for embedding directional sound in
QTVR.

mapsaVR is a fast and affordable way to add clickable node markers,
3D direction/location indicators, and overhead maps to single node
and multinode QTVR (1.0 or 2.0) panorama movies, radically reducing
the time, effort, and expertise needed to create interactive QTVR
movies using wired sprites. These features help the user to remain
oriented while exploring complex QTVR environments, and significantly
enhance the user navigation capabilities within nodes and scenes.

With mapsaVR, you can import overhead maps, custom marker sets, and
movie backgrounds in any image file format supported by QT3.0, or
select a specific background color. The program allows you to easily
assign multiple maps to each multinode movie, set the directional
offset of each node pointer to align with the current map, and
position clickable node markers that jump the viewer to the
corresponding node on the map. This power and flexibility gives you
enhanced creative control over the immersive experience of your
photographic or rendered QTVR panoramas.

Because mapsaVR files are exported using only the QuickTime 3.0 movie
file format – requiring no special plug-ins – you can be confident
that they will play back on computers running the Mac OS, Windows 95,
or Windows NT. The product is available for purchase on the Squamish
Media Group web site at (http://www.smgVR.com)http://www.smgVR.com
and a detailed description of mapsaVR and information on its features
are now available at (http://msVRmain.html)http://msVRmain.html.
mapsaVR is priced at $99.00 (US), and is available at a substantial
discount to authorized educational organizations.

revolVR is an inexpensive wired sprite utility that allows content
creators to quickly customize QuickTime VR panoramas so they will
automatically pan when the movie opens, a feature previously
unavailable in QTVR. In addition, revolVR allows the user to
interactively auto-rotate panoramas and object movies in either
direction at variable rotation speeds, just by dragging in the movie
window.

Its simple, yet powerful interface allows you to easily set the step
size, frequency and direction as desired, and the ‘Auto Level’ option
smoothly tilts the QTVR to 0 when the user isn’t manipulating the
movie. revolVR supports single node and multinode 1.0 or 2.0 QTVR
panorama and object movies, and its files are exported in the
QuickTime 3.0 movie file format.

revolVR is priced at $15.00 (US), and is available for purchase on
