[NPL] Media Design in*Progress Reads CometSite/Page Files

SAN DIEGO, February 18, 1999: Media Design in*Progress
(http://www.in-progress.com) today released a bridge from CometSite
and CometPage, the recently discontinued web development applications
from Digital Comet. The Comet Bridge facilitates a smooth transition
from Comet’s command tags to standard XML.

Digital Comet (http://www.digitalcomet.com) announced on January 27
that they were no longer selling CometPage and CometSite, the
company’s web development software. These products was based on
“server side includes on stereoids,” generating web pages from
command tags mixed with HTML.

“It is sad that web developers are stuck in a dead end with documents
in an obsolete proprietary command tag format” said Terje Norderhaug,
President of Media Design in*Progress. “With the Comet Bridge, we
throw a lifeline to Digital Comet Customers so they can get back on
track.”

The Comet Bridge is a free extension that makes Interaction and
Xpublish execute Comet’s command tags. It allows web professionals to
use content from CometSite or CometPage with Interaction and
XPublish. Extensible markup can immediately be used in the same
documents as the command tags, so webmasters can move on to standard
XML at their own pace. The Comet Bridge is available from
(http://interaction.in-progress.com/components/comet/).

Interaction is a web server companion for providing dynamic adaptive
websites on the Macintosh. Xpublish is a website publishing system
for Macintosh. Both products are based on XML and other open
standards, and can be downloaded from the website of Media Design
in*Progress.

Media Design in*Progress also provides the Cloak Bridge to help web
professionals upgrade from the proprietary command tags of NetCloak
to standard server-side XML. The Cloak Brodge is available from
(http://interaction.in-progress.com/components/cloak/).
