FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Dear Software Developer:

The differences between this year and last are as stark as night and day.
There is a hot-selling Macintosh! It isn’t beige, but Bondi Blue and
translucent white. With Mac OS 8.5 rockin’ and with Mac OS X boldly
appearing on the minds of Mac developers, 1999 is going to be a banner year.

One thing’s the same: MacHack is still MacHack, the premier Macintosh
developer conference held in Dearborn, Michigan, starting with the keynote
speech at 12:01 AM on Thursday, 23 June 1999. (Helpful hint: show up
Wednesday evening.)

Do you develop wicked Macintosh technologies in secret? Do you know
something that you think absolutely must be better understood by other
developers in the genre? Is your garage full of books, white board,
computers and software and not cars?

Did you answer “Yes” to any of the above? Then, you’re the reason that
MacHack is here. If you are a Mac developer, you probably know someone who
has attended MacHack.

The MacHack sessions are central to what makes the conference so valuable
for developers. We need speakers for sessions and panels to talk about
technical subjects related to Mac OS programming.

In short, we need YOU.

Present your work at the conference! Experience the adulation and
cameraderie of your peers, get critical feedback, learn new stuff, and,
most importantly, talk to the other developers. Become part of a critical
mass of engineering talent and know-how.

Send a brief description of your session or panel idea to
(machack-sessions@machack.com), and you’ll get back additional information
about doing a session or being on a panel. We’ll even tell you about
presenting a paper at MacHack.

Publishers and manufacturers are invited, no, more like encouraged, to send
technical representatives. MacHack is an excellent opportunity for you to
introduce and encourage use of your development technologies. While MacHack
is the perfect venue to get the word out about new and exciting products
for developers, frank marketing is strongly discouraged. Show us what it is
and does, if it’s cool that’s enough to sell it.

MacHack is a conference that, in its fourteenth year, remains centered
around cutting edge software development. Each year the conference brings
together well-known names in the software business, as well as many
students and upstarts whose names we’ll know soon enough, and fosters
interaction between all of the attendees. MacHack’s uniqueness derives from
the informal and the LIVE coding that occurs around-the-clock during the
conference.

The 1999 MacHack conference will take place June 23-26 in Dearborn,
Michigan. Topics for the 1999 conference include networking, rapid
application and cross platform development.
