Menlo Park, California – August 26, 1998 – BeatWare announced today that
it has made giant strides in enabling BeOS users to thrive in a world
dominated by the Windows operating system. Version 2.1 of BeatWare’s
popular productivity suite, Be Basics ™, allows users to exchange
document files with others on the Windows platform.

Users of Be Basics can now open and save files in either a plain text or
Rich Text Format. Files saved in either format can easily be read and
edited by industry standards such as Microsoft Word and Corel
WordPerfect. The company plans to add support for HTML, the standard for
text on the Internet, in a future release.

Be Basics(tm), which includes a frame-based word processor and
spreadsheet, first made headlines in August, 1997, as the premiere
productivity suite created specifically for the BeOS. Users benefit from
unparalleled speed and responsiveness, live updating across multiple
views, and an easy to use, drag and drop, graphical interface.

Be Basics(tm) 2.1 sells for an introductory price of $69 and is
available via electronic download from Be Depot at
http://www.bedepot.com/shop/products/beatware/bebasics.asp . Registered
