“Java(tm) Express” is a one-day seminar designed to teach people about Java
while raising money for worthwhile SF Peninsula charities. It will take
place on Saturday, November 8 at Apple’s R&D campus in Cupertino, from 9:00
am until 5:00 pm.
It is sponsored by the Software Forum, Apple Computer, and Personal
Concepts, and I will be presenting most of the material. For the last ten
years, I have taught advanced object-oriented programming seminars
worldwide for companies such as IBM, Apple, Tandem, ParcPlace, Taligent,
MITRE, and Boeing, among others.
“Java(tm) Express” will cover two major topics:
(1) an overview of Java technical and business issues, and
(2) writing Java applications and applets.
Attendees will need to be familiar with the concepts of object-oriented
programming but do not need to be experts. What if you are already a Java
programming guru? Then perhaps this seminar is not for you. The seminar is
targeted at the thousands of programmers who will need to learn Java but
haven’t had the time. What if you are a technical manager? You should
attend! We will give you some unique insights into why Java will almost
certainly become very important to your organization in the near future.
This will be a platform-neutral seminar. We’ll show 100% Pure Java code
that could be written for any platform. We’ll show development tools and
Java programs running on both Windows 95 and Macintosh.
If you already know this stuff, I hope you will pass this notice on to
others who might be interested. The more people we get, the more money we
can raise for good causes. As background, when we did a class like this in
the ’80s called MacAfrica that taught Mac programming, we raised about
$8,500 for an African relief fund.
