Tangent Systems Announces BuildSim to Support ADB I/O Product from BeeHive
Technologies, Inc.
OCEAN BEACH, Calif.– September 5, 1997:

Tangent Systems announced today that it will provide built-in support for
ADB I/O from BEEHIVE Technologies, Inc. All editions of BuildSim will have
an “ADB I/O” BuildBlock which can be used in conjunction with the ADB I/O
product for simple data acquisition and control projects. This is an
exciting development in that now a simple yet flexible device like ADB I/O
can be easily coupled with BuildSim to provide a quick and easy way to
develop relatively sophisticated data acquisition and control projects
without being forced to learn a specific programing language. ADB I/O
combined with the easy to use point and click interface provided by
BuildSim can now provide access to a whole new set of users and customers.

“After a careful review of ADB I/O, it became apparent that its a natural
fit with BuildSim and can provide an easy way to control and monitor
external devices”.

Support for ADB I/O will come in the 2.1 release of BuildSim. Tangent
Systems is currently working towards the release of version 2.0. The major
technical advantage with version 2.0 – besides the productivity tools,
increased simulation speed and more capable simulation building blocks, is
the code base is now setup for a port to Windows95. The company is also
examining the option of jumping directly to a pure Java version of the
application.

“Clearly, the addition of a C++ and Java code generator to BuildSim adds a
fantastic level of portability to the simulation and process control
projects that BuildSim can produce. But rewriting BuildSim in Java may
eliminate platform dependance issues once and for all. Its an issue still
being studied. And of course with Rhapsody looming in the near future ….
lets just say its an exciting time around here!”

BuildSim is currently in beta test. The company has been posting beta test
versions for public feedback. The latest build, b36 has just been posted
and contains a host of improvements suggested by beta testers.

BuildSim 2.0 Provides an Integrated Developement Environment for Simulation
and Control System Development Developers will enjoy the how easily systems
can be modelled, simulated and tested. With the integrated automatic code
generator currently in development for the Platinum Edition, BuildSim
Projects can be synthesized in C++, C, or Java for embedded system control,
leveraging the growing internet infrastructure for simulation and
distributed process control. With BuildSim, Tangent Systems will be one of
the early entrants into this new field of internet enabled distributed
process control and monitoring systems. The planned Java code generator
tool will allow the synthesis of robo-controllers that can then be compiled
and deployed using tools already in the field.

BuildSim was developed with students, engineers and scientists in mind. Its
easy -to-use interface masks a sophisticated set of tools for simulation
and data analysis. Complex dynamic models and control systems can simulated
and data collected and plotted. BuildSim has been designed to make
“tinkering” in the modelling/simulation world easy. On top of that, several
productivity tools have been carefully designed to make it a truly unique
and powerful application for developing and deploying simulations and
process control systems.

BuildSim 2.0 Bronze Edition will be Free, Downloadable from the Tangent
Systems WebSite BuildSim will be delivered via internet as a Bronze Edition
and can be upgraded to increasingly more powerful editions (Silver, Gold
and Platinum) via password. BuildSim has many application areas including
Education, Robotics, Electronics, Physics, Engineering Design, Process
Control, and Simulation. Scientists, Engineers, and Engineering Students
will find BuildSim powerful yet easy to use. BuildSim is currently in beta
testing and a new version has just been posted on the company web site
available for ftp download. Each edition of BuildSim provides more
capabilities, functions and tools for system modelling, simulation and
deployment. The Bronze Edition will be free while the Silver, Gold and
Platinum editions will have competitive price break points.

Tangent Systems is a Software Development and Consulting company based in
San Diego, California. Tangent Systems provides customized software
development for Macintosh, Windows, UNIX, and embedded systems using C++,
CPX, and Java programming languages.

In addition to BuildSim, its simulation and process control application,
Tangent Systems is developing and marketing a library of CPX compatible
classes called “objx”. TS objx make CPX application development even faster
by extending the application framework that ships with the CPX development
environment. TS objx cover the spectrum from multimedia classes to
engineering analysis tools to advanced GUI components.
