[MD1] SiteEdit Pro Version 2.0

SiteEdit Pro Version 2.0
ActiveX support, improved editing, and server maintenance

SiteEdit Pro provides a convenient, Web-based method of maintaining HTML
pages and other files on your server. Without leaving your browser,
SiteEdit allows you navigate the folder hierarchy on your server and
perform useful functions like moving, copying, renaming or deleting files
and folders. In addition, it allows you to create new folders or Web pages
immediately. You can edit HTML documents to quickly update a page or create
entirely new content. SiteEdit is secure since it requires valid passwords
to perform all functions. Multi-user capability is built-in so that you can
provide restricted access to multiple people. Thus an ISP or Webmaster can
provide easy access to an individual’s folder without compromising the
security of their system.

Version 2.0 includes support for file upload from Microsoft’s Internet
Explorer using a custom ActiveX control, will automatically expand
compressed packages of files and folders uploaded to the Web server, and
can launch and quit applications as well as set their memory requirements.

SiteEdit users with Internet Explorer will now be able to upload files from
their local machine to the server without using FTP. This capability
requires a custom developed ActiveX control that is available for Macintosh
and Windows. Netscape Navigator users will continue to be able to perform
this task as before. Users will also be happy that they can upload
compressed files and folders and have them automatically expanded on the
server. This makes updating an entire folder of information quick and easy.
Expansion of most major formats such as Bin Hex (.hqx), Stuffit (.sit),
MacBinary (.bin), and Compact Pro (.cpt) is handled by Aladdin System’s
Stuffit Expander on the server. A special SiteEdit display option for users
on a slow internet connection eliminates superfluous images and HTML
formatting in order to reduce editing time dramatically.

These new functions can be disabled for certain users by the administrator
if necessary. Administrators also have many new features that allow them to
launch and quit running applications. In addition, they can set the memory
requirements of applications as well as set the file type and creator of
files.

“I recently did some work at an Apple tech conference and we displayed Site
Edit prominently. Our students use it extensively to edit their pages as
do faculty members to edit the athletic pages.”
-Dean Ellerton, Suffield Academy (http://www.suffieldacademy.org/)

“SiteEdit Pro is an amazing product! It is the fastest and easiest product
I have found to edit web pages and other files on Macintosh servers. It is
also does not slow down the web server like ftp and file sharing systems
do.”
-Jeff Gold, Go.Com World Network (http://www.go.com/)
