Aladdin Systems, Inc. Announces the
Acquisition of Award-Winning Utility, ShrinkWrap(tm)

Aladdin Systems Acquires Shareware Utility
for Creating and Using Disk Image Files

Watsonville, CA– November 13, 1996– Aladdin Systems, Inc., developer of the
worldwide Macintosh compression and installation standards, StuffIt and
StuffIt InstallerMaker, has acquired ShrinkWrap from developer, Chad
Magendanz. Aladdin will continue to work closely with Magendanz and will
release new versions of ShrinkWrap in early 1997.

ShrinkWrap was developed to create disk image files quickly and efficiently.
ShrinkWrap provides a convenient and reliable means of mounting disk image
files on the desktop, seamlessly handles disk image files in their archived
form, and provides a freely distributable alternative to other disk copying
methods.

“The success of ShrinkWrap has been phenomenal,” said Chad Magendanz,
developer of ShrinkWrap. “Aladdin and I understand the symbiotic relationship
our products share. That’s why Aladdin is the perfect organization to give
ShrinkWrap the attention it needs to fully achieve its potential. Aladdin’s
great success in bringing shareware products to the mass market made it the
obvious choice for taking ShrinkWrap to the next level.”

Why use ShrinkWrap?
ShrinkWrap has an easy-to-use drag and drop interface that allows users to
create exact duplicates of image files from disks. Features include recreating
the exact icon placement, appearance of all windows, and the correct name of
the disk. With these disk images, users also have assurance that all the
files have been duplicated correctly and completely. The disk images are
frequently used for backing up original floppy disks to removable media,
installing Apple’s System Updates and System Software extensions, distributing
multiple disk images on floppies, mounting floppies on Macs without a
SuperDrive, creating “instant” RAM disks, distributing software collections
and archives on CD-ROM, and verifying the integrity of development builds.
Further, ShrinkWrap is the ideal method of distributing disk images over the
Internet.

“ShrinkWrap has always been associated with StuffIt products in one form or
another and they compliment each other nicely. Together they form a powerful
utility package greater than the individual components. ShrinkWrap is the next
piece in the software distribution puzzle,” said Darryl Lovato, vice president
and general manager, developer technologies. “It is a natural progression for
Aladdin and its customers to be able to have a complete solution from one
company. Our developer users will be pleased to see improved integration
between InstallerMaker and ShrinkWrap in future versions.”

Availability and Requirements
ShrinkWrap will be available from Aladdin in the beginning of 1997. Aladdin
will honor all existing site licenses and commercial distribution licenses
finalized under Magendanz.

ShrinkWrap requires System 7.0 or later, is accelerated for Power Macintosh
users, and makes extensive use of AppleEvent objects and a custom AppleEvent
suite.
