Sonnet previews the Echo Express SE III
Sonnet Technologies has announced the launch of the Echo Express SE III, the newest member of the company's Echo Express family of Thunderbolt-to-PCI Express (PCIe) expansion systems. With full support for Thunderbolt 3, the Echo Express SE III is a compact desktop device that enables the use of up to three high-performance PCIe cards with Macs equipped with Thunderbolt 3 ports. Users of Macs equipped with 40Gbps Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports, such as the new MacBook Pro, are able to take advantage of Thunderbolt 3's 2750 MB/s of PCIe bandwidth to support the most demanding, highest-performance adapter cards, according to Robert Farnsworth, CEO of Sonnet Technologies. Troi releases Troi File Plug-in 9.0 for FileMaker Pro 16
Troi has released Troi File Plug-in 9.0 for FileMaker Pro 16. It's a tool for getting access to information outside the FileMaker Pro database. Any files or folders stored on the computer can be accessed through the functions of the plug-in. Version 9.0 is compatible with the just released FileMaker Pro 16. A fully functional demo version of Troi File Plug-in 9.0 is available for downloading at Troi's website (https://www.troi.com/products/fileplugin/). Licenses cost $99 per user. Timing 2 brings automatic time and productivity tracking to macOS
Daniel Alm has launched Timing 2, an update to his time tracking application for macOS. It records how much time the user has spent on apps, documents and websites. This data can then be used to analyze one's productivity, essential for billing hours. Version 2.0 introduces a completely new interface, automatic productivity score estimation, and the ability to automatically detect blocks of time that belong together, for even more accurate time sheets. Timing 2 requires macOS 10.11 or higher. It’s offered in three variants on the developer's website (https://timingapp.com). The "Productivity" edition ($29) tracks all details on how apps are used. Apple updates Workflow to version 1.7.4
Workflow has been updated to version 1.7.4, re-introducing features that were removed when Apple acquired the software, as well as adding new Apple Music actions. For example, it restores the Google Chrome and Pocket actions. You can add music to your Up Next queue with the Add Music to Up Next and Clear Up Next actions. Get Distance now supports getting the distance from a specified location. The order of items passed from a Dictionary action to Choose from List is now preserved. Apple reports second quarter fiscal results
Apple has announced financial results for its fiscal 2017 second quarter that ended April 1, 2017. The company posted quarterly revenue of $52.9 billion and quarterly earnings per diluted share of $2.10. These results compare to revenue of $50.6 billion and earnings per diluted share of $1.90 in the year-ago quarter. Apple has premiered its newest store in the Middle East, Apple Dubai Mall, with a 186-foot curved storefront and balcony overlooking Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Fountain.  Envisioned as a space for the community to gather, learn and be entertained, Apple Dubai Mall will serve as a venue to watch the spectacular evening fountain shows and host Apple’s new global in-store experience, "Today at Apple," said Angela Ahrendts, Apple’s senior vice president of Retail. Like many of Apple’s other significant stores, Apple Dubai Mall aims to be open and transparent, blurring the barriers between inside and out, to erase the boundaries between the store and the community, she adds. Apple has announced plans to launch dozens of new educational sessions next month in all 495 Apple Stores ranging in topics from photo and video to music, coding, art and design, and more. IGG Software releases Banktivity 6 for macOS

Zevrix Solutions has announced PDF Checkpoint 1.7.21, a feature update to the PDF preflight and conversion solution. The utility automatically preflights, saves as images, splits and optimizes multiple Adobe PDF files. The software can also convert PDF colors and helps users easily prepare files for print, web and mobile devices. Version 1.7.21 introduces automatic file renaming when splitting PDFs into pages in situations where files with original names already exist. CloudMounter 2.0 adds OpenStack Swift storage system support
Eltima has released CloudMounter 2.0 (http://cloudmounter.net/), an update to the Mac app that mounts cloud services such as Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive and Amazon S3 on your Mac and connects to WebDAV, FTP/FTPS/SFTP servers. This allows for access and management of data stored on them via Finder as if it were kept on your Mac's hard drive. Version 2.0 adds support for the OpenStack Swift storage system. Typinator 7.2 for macOS adds Citrix support
Ergonis Software has announced Typinator 7.2, an improved version of their text expander. The upgrade sports a new technique for fine-grained adaptations to applications that need special handling of expansions and improved timing and context validation. The new version also adds support for Citrix. Typinator 7.2 requires macOS 10.6 or higher and can be purchased on the Ergonis Software website (www.ergonis.com). The upgrade to Typinator 7.2 is free for Typinator 7 license owners and for anyone who purchased a license for Typinator 6 on or after Jan. 1, 2016. Upgrade paths are available for owners of older licenses.

QNAP announces new NAS product
QNAP (www.qnap.com) is now shipping its Thunderbolt 3-connected TVS-1282T3 storage solution powered by the latest Intel 7t gen Kaby Lake multicore processor. It provides a Thunderbolt 3 connection to the latest generation MacBook Pro (or Thunderbolt 2 with adapter) and personal computers fast enough for ingest and editing of 4K video, and the traditional NAS/IP-SAN convenience for file sharing, backup, and cloud access for clients and creative teams to collaborate on projects, says Erick Oliveros, marketing manager for QNAP. It sports 12 drive bays (eight 3.5" HDDs and four 2.5" SSDs) and two M.2 SSD slots. This equates to over 80TB of fast storage (with 10TB HDDs) which can be accessed via four Thunderbolt 3 ports or two 10GbE Ethernet ports (four 1 GbE ports also on board). The TVS-1282T3 comes with either an Intel Core i5 3.4Ghz or Core i7 3.6Ghz processor and up to 64GB of RAM. The new TVS-1282T3 is currently shipping in the US and Canada markets.
