Apple and Accenture partner to create iOS business solutions
Apple and Accenture are partnering (http://tinyurl.com/yatkn8g5) to help businesses transform how their people engage with customers through business solutions for iOS. Accenture provides services in strategy, consulting, digital, technology and operations. In a press release, Apple CEO Tim Cook says the partnership will take full advantage of the power, simplicity and security of iOS and Accenture’s capabilities as a leader in industry and digital transformation to help companies unlock new revenue streams, increase productivity, improve customer experience and reduce costs. LinkOptimizer for InDesign gets improved batch processing of...
Zevrix Solutions has announced LinkOptimizer 5.1.6, a maintenance update to company's workflow automation solution for Adobe InDesign. The tool lets users automatically scale and crop images to their InDesign dimensions at specified target resolution, convert image formats, adjust colors and more. Version 5.1.6 improves batch processing of InDesign files with duplicate links in situations where multiple source documents are located in the same folder. Orion Transfer has updated Property Manage, their property management solution for macOS, to version 2.2. The utility is designed to help landlords and tenants track rental costs, property expenses and room availability. It provides tables and reports that show how properties are performing by tracking both incoming rent and expenses. Version 2.2 fixes window restoration and other minor user interface fixes. Micromat introduces Drive Scope for the Mac
Micromat has announced a new macOS drive utility called Drive Scope. The software utilizes Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology (also known as S.M.A.R.T.) — which is built into most hard drives — to report on the health of internal and external hard drives connected to Macs. The program displays a wide variety of information about supported hard drives, including critical health information, and is able to warn of impending drive failures prior to data loss. Apple’s next U.S. data center will be built in Iowa
It’s official: Apple’s next U.S. data center will be built in Iowa. The tech giant has announced plans to build a 400,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art data center in Waukee, Iowa, to better serve North American users of iMessage, Siri, the App Store and other Apple services. Like all Apple data centers, the new facility will run entirely on renewable energy from day one. Apple’s investment of $1.3 billion will create over 550 construction and operations jobs in the Des Moines area, and the company is contributing up to $100 million to a newly created Public Improvement Fund dedicated to community development and infrastructure around Waukee. “At Apple, we’re always looking at ways to deliver even better experiences for our customers. Western Digital releases My Book Duo with up to 20GB of storage
Western Digital Corporation has unveiled the My Book Duo storage system that comes in a high end version with 20TB of storage. Chronos debuts Notelife for macOS and iOS
Chronos has released Notelife for macOS and iOS. It’s a note manager that uses iCloud to sync notes across all of a user’s devices. Apple accepting donations for the SPLC
Apple is now accepting donations to the Southern Poverty Law Center (https://www.splcenter.org), an Alabama-based non-profit organization. iTunes users in the U.S. can donate $5, $10, $25, $50, $100, or $200 with a credit card tied to their account. Apple will transfer 100% of the proceeds to the SPLC, a U.S. non-profit organization monitoring the activities of domestic hate groups and other extremists.

FORMULA ONE returns to macOS on August 25
Feral Interactive (www.feralinteractive.com) says F1 2017, the official videogame of the current 2017 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP, will be released for macOS on Aug. 25. System requirementshaven’t been announced. Developed and published by Codemasters for Windows and consoles, F1 2017 grants players access to not only the on-track excitement of F1, but also the off-track dealings and vehicle development that goes along with it. The ten-year Career Mode includes practice programs to help players hone their skills, a research and development tree to provide greater control over the development of their car, and the ability to tune engines and gearboxes over the course of the season. The Digital Stationery Consortium, Inc. (DSC) has announced that the organization is accepting Promoter member applications for a free, one-year membership from digital stationery-focused developers within technology start-ups as well as academic entities exclusively. Noble Master Games has released Demise of Nations 1.0.37, a “simultaneously executed turn-based grand strategy wargame" for the Mac. 

 The game covers the rise of Rome till the fall of modern civilization. Featuring over 50 unique troop types, Demise of Nations is described a mix between Civilization and Unity of Command featuring deep game-play including diplomacy, research, building, trading and resource management. The game also includes modding support with an integrated map editor. Demise of Nations 1.0.37 can be downloaded directly from the official website (http://demiseofnations.com) or via Steam. It comes with two maps provided for free. Additional maps can be downloaded for $3.99 a piece or $19.99 for all. Multiplayer games are free to join. However, to cover server costs, there’s a fee for custom online game setup or custom avatars. Demise of Nations is not pay-2-win.

callas software (https://www.callassoftware.com) has rolled out version 9.3 of pdfToolbox, which allows you to integrate PDF processing. The upgrade uses the latest version of the Adobe PDF Library and provides bug fixes in the areas of rendering and transparency flatting and improves stability and performance of the application. A new Switchboard action allows for converting pages containing CMYK (and optionally spot colors) into pre-separated pages (without rasterization). A one page CMYK PDF file is converted into a four-page pre-separated PDF file. Pre-separated pages have metadata to allow compatible equipment to recognize them as such. The pdfToolbox check for the size of a page box such as the trim box has been extended. Now it’s also possible to check that a page has either a given size or a multiple of that size.
