Seagate announces two new flash products
Seagate Technology (www.seagate.com) announced two new flash products at the Flash Memory Summit conference: a 60TB Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) solid-state-drive (SSD) — the largest SSD ever demonstrated — and the 8TB Nytro XP7200 NVMe SSD.
These two new products represent the high performance end of Seagate’s Enterprise portfolio. The 60TB SAS SSD features twice the density and four times the capacity of the next highest-capacity SSD available today — equivalent to the capacity needed to accommodate 400 million photos on a typical social media platform, or 12,000 DVD movies.
The 60TB SAS SSD also simplifies the configuration process of accommodating “hot” and “cold” data, enabling data centers to use the same enterprise HDD 3.5 inch storage form factor. This eliminates the added step of separating out different types of data for near-term availability versus long-term storage, says Brett Pemble, Seagate’s general manager and vice president of SSD products.

Maclocks announces lock for Apple’s 12-inch MacBook
Maclocks, the Apple lock specialists, has introduced the New MacBook Lock (http://tinyurl.com/hnu2xlm), which the company claims is the first lock specifically designed to include security for the USB-C port on a 12-inch MacBook.
The lock’s bracket weighs less than 0.1 pounds, so it adds minimal bulk and still allows the MacBook to fit in a sleeve or bag. It’s fastened to the bottom of the device and incorporates the security slot to which the included cable lock is attached.

Tension Software has announced DB-Text 1.6.1 (http://tinyurl.com/jsradvt) for Mac OS X. DB-Text is a general use tool to open and edit CSV (Comma separated value) and TSV (Tab separated value) documents on OS X.
It can open import, edit and manage text data organized by rows and columns. Apple has released iOS 9.3.4. It’s available via an over-the-air download on all devices running iOS 9.x.

Carnation Software has released MacWise 15.3 (www.macwise.com), an update to its terminal emulation software for Macintosh.
MacWise allows a Macintosh to be used as a terminal, connected to a host computer directly, by modem, local area network or over the Internet with telnet or ssh secure shell. MacWise emulates ADDS Viewpoint, Wyse 50, Wyse 60, Wyse 370, Televideo TV 925, DEC VT100, VT220 and Prism terminals. The Creative Pro User Group Network Network has announced the Ninth Annual Amsterdam SuperMeet, which will be held Sunday, Sept. 11 — once again at the Hotel Krasnapolsky in the heart of Amsterdam, NL.
The Amsterdam SuperMeet promises to be the single largest gathering of Final Cut Pro, Adobe, Avid and Resolve editors, gurus and digital filmmakers during the IBC 2016 Show. “Early bird” tickets are now on sale and can be purchased at the SuperMeet website (http://supermeet.com) for 10 Euros each (plus ticket fee). Tickets for students and teachers are 7 Euros each.
The "SuperMeet Digital Showcase" will feature over 20 software and hardware developers. The full agenda will not be announced until sometime in August; however, there will be user driven presentations by Blackmagic Design, Adobe, HP/NVIDIA LumaForge and more. Rounding out the evening will be the "World Famous Raffle," featuring thousands of Euros worth of filmmaker-related prizes.
Audified releases second generation STA Effects
Audified has released a bundle of new and improved summing tube processing plug-ins based around its proprietary Summing Tube Amplifier (STA) technology.
The namesake STA (Summing Tube Amplifier) technology that the original and second-generation STA Effects bundle of summing tube processing plug-ins both benefit from uses two signal paths: one being processed by modulation or spectral change while the other remains unprocessed. Moth Software announces Mail Archiver X 4.0 for OS X
Moth Software has announced Mail Archiver X 4.0 for Mac OS X, an update to their app designed as a companion to the user's email application.
Mail Archiver X allows consolidation, archiving, and permanent storage of emails. Emails may be saved in the application's native database format, or in Evernote, Filemaker, PDF, mbox, or Text. Version 4.0 adds support for archiving from multiple email clients and IMAP accounts.

Zevrix Deliver now supports Microsoft Exchange email servers
Zevrix Solutions has released Deliver 2.5.6, a feature update to its file transfer solution with automatic email notifications.
Deliver lets users send files to FTP, SFTP, Google Storage, Amazon S3, WebDAV and other remote and local servers. The software notifies recipients about delivered files automatically, eliminating the need to compose and send confirmation emails for each transfer. Version 2.5.6 lets users send automatic email delivery notifications via Microsoft Exchange SMTP servers.
Deliver can be purchased from the Zevrix website (www.zevrix.com) for $19.95, as well as from Mac App Store and authorized resellers. A demo is available for download. Apple celebrates one billion iPhones
At an employee meeting in Cupertino this morning, CEO Tim Cook announced that Apple recently sold the billionth iPhone.
"iPhone has become one of the most important, world-changing and successful products in history. It's become more than a constant companion. iPhone is truly an essential part of our daily life and enables much of what we do throughout the day," said Cook. “Last week we passed another major milestone when we sold the billionth iPhone. We never set out to make the most, but we’ve always set out to make the best products that make a difference. Thank you to everyone at Apple for helping change the world every day."

Duplicacy for Mac is a new deduplication cloud backup tool
Acrosync has launched Duplicacy 1.0, a cross-platform cloud backup tool that’s compatible with Mac OS X Yosemite and El Capitan.
The utility uses a lock-free deduplication method, so it can backup multiple clients to most popular cloud-based storage services without the need for any file locks. The app also offers the ability to perform backups to local hard drives, SFTP servers, and NAS boxes. Duplicity’s graphical user interface features one-page backup configuration.
Duplicacy 1.0 is free for personal use, and is available worldwide exclusively through the Duplicacy website (http://duplicacy.com). Commercial users pay $2.00 per month per computer. A Windows version is also available for download from the Duplicity website.

Apple has announced financial results for its fiscal 2016 third quarter that ended June 25. The company posted quarterly revenue of $42.4 billion and quarterly net income of $7.8 billion, or $1.42 per diluted share.
These results compare to revenue of $49.6 billion and net income of $10.7 billion, or $1.85 per diluted share, in the year-ago quarter. Gross margin was 38% compared to 39.7% in the year-ago quarter. International sales accounted for 63 percent of the quarter’s revenue.
“We are pleased to report third quarter results that reflect stronger customer demand and business performance than we anticipated at the start of the quarter,” said CEO Tim Cook. “We had a very successful launch of iPhone SE and we’re thrilled by customers’ and developers’ response to software and services we previewed at WWDC in June.”

Bare Bones Software Releases TextWrangler 5.5
Bare Bones Software has released TextWrangler 5.5, an update to its general purpose text editor for Mac OS X.
The upgrade offers performance improvements, refinements to fit and finish, and changes to streamline workflow in specific areas, such as Find Differences. In all, this new version includes more than 250 new features, changes to existing features, and fixes for specific reported issues.

Tower for Mac adds Visual Studio Team Services support
Fournova has announced Tower 2.4 (http://www.git-tower.com), an update to the company's Git client for Mac.
Tower provides the user with an interface that combines all the important features that Git has to offer. The new version comes with support for Microsoft's Visual Studio Team Services, as well as Team Foundation Server.

SIGGRAPH 2016 brings new Autodesk Design animation
At the SIGGRAPH conference in Anaheim, Aalifornia, Autodesk is showcasing the latest design animation solutions for Maya 2017 and an update to 3ds Max.
Maya 2017 features integrated rendering with Arnold, new motion graphics tools and numerous features and enhancements designed to help artists work faster and easier than ever. Autodesk is also announcing that Solid Angle’s Arnold renderer will support 3ds Max with a plugin called MAXtoA.
Maya 2017 now includes Arnold as its default renderer. This integration of Arnold into Maya 2017 builds on the MAXtoA Arnold plugin and brings advanced rendering capabilities within Maya.
