Apple has released public betas of macOS 10.12.4 and iOS 10.3. If you're not already signed up for the public beta program, you can do so here: https://beta.apple.com/sp/betaprogram/. The public beta program is free, but remember: beta software is unfinished software so use with care. macOS Sierra 10.12.4 brings iOS's Night Shift mode to the Mac, allowing users to cut down on blue light exposure. It also includes Shanghainese dictation support, cricket scores for Siri, and PDFKit improvements. iOS 10.3 updates the file structure on an iOS device to the Apple File System (APFS). AFPS is optimized for Flash/SSD storage and features “strong encryption, copy-on-write metadata, space sharing, cloning for files and directories, snapshots, fast directory sizing, atomic safe-save primitives, and improved file system fundamentals.” The beta also includes a new "Find My AirPods" ability, additions to Siri, CarPlay improvements, and some changes to Maps. What’s more, Apple says that by the time...

Version 6 is designed from the ground up with customer productivity and enhanced features as the driving goals, says said IGG president and founder Ian Gillespie. It’s Workspace feature is the first of its kind in a Mac personal finance software, he adds. Workspace allows customers to put any account, budget, report or other view, side-by-side. For example, users can put transactions for an account next to a budget to see how recent spending affects the budget. Banktivity 6’s Tags allow users to see and analyze spending habits across categories. Quick Reports let users select transactions and then quickly bring up a report based on the selection. Find is a new document-wide search feature. Portfolio is a new feature in the sidebar that gives quick access to the...

NV Energy announces solar agreement with Apple
NV Energy and Apple have reached an agreement to build 200 megawatts of additional solar energy in Nevada by early 2019. The projects will support Apple's renewable energy needs for its Reno data center.  In the coming weeks, NV Energy will file an application with the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada (PUCN) to enter into a power purchase agreement (PPA) for the solar power plant. The project will bring NV Energy's total to more than 529 megawatts of new solar resources in construction in Nevada or under review for approval. This is in addition to the 491 megawatts of universal solar resources in Nevada currently serving NV Energy customers. Apple will also dedicate up to 5 megawatts of power to NV Energy's future subscription solar program for residential and commercial customers. "We are proud to play a role in helping Apple meet their energy needs with Nevada's abundant solar resource," said Paul Caudill, president and CEO of NV Energy, in a press release.
