Twocanoes Software introduces SD Clone 3 for the Mac
Twocanoes Software has rolled out SD Clone 3, an upgrade to its SD card cloning software for the Mac. It supports SD, micro-SD and other flash media formats commonly used in embedded devices, cameras, digital signage and other electronic devices. Version 3 includes enhanced capabilities to verify, expand, shrink and save SD cards to image files and disk images. It also adds a toolbar for quick access to frequently used tools, videos and online image repositories. SD Clone 3 requires macOS 10.10 or higher. The new version offers additional parameters and tool settings, new presets, enhanced compatibility with CC 2017, bug fixes, and other changes. The Records Team has released Records 1.5.1 for Mac, an update to their personal database application for macOS. It allows anyone to collect and organize their information, from favorite movies, to customer invoices, to home inventory, and more. Version 1.5.1 adds support for the Touch Bar on the new MacBook Pro and macOS Sierra. Records requires macOS 10.10 or later. Satechi releases USB-C Power Meter
Satechi has released its USB-C Power Meter, which allows users to measure the volts, amps, and mAh output from their accessories to ensure they are safe, effective and compatible with their new Type-C laptops, tablets and smartphones such as the 12-inch MacBook and 2016 MacBook Pros. When choosing a charger or accessory for a device, users need to know the maximum voltage and amperage it can use to ensure they don’t permanently damage their hardware, according to the folks at Satechi. The USB-C Power Meter measures voltage in real time, amps being input a device, and how much power has travelled into your device since it started charging. Editors Keys launch new keyboard skins for the MacBook Pro with...
Editors Keys (https://www.editorskeys.com) has launched shortcut keyboard covers for the Apple MacBook Pro with Touch Bar. The new keyboard covers protect the laptop from dust and liquid spills, in addition to offering over 150 shortcuts for programs such as Final Cut Pro X, Logic Pro X and the Adobe Creative Cloud suite of programs. Apple posts public betas of macOS 10.12.4, iOS 10.3
Apple has released public betas of macOS 10.12.4 and iOS 10.3. If you're not already signed up for the public beta program, you can do so here: https://beta.apple.com/sp/betaprogram/. The public beta program is free, but remember: beta software is unfinished software so use with care. macOS Sierra 10.12.4 brings iOS's Night Shift mode to the Mac, allowing users to cut down on blue light exposure. Version 6 is designed from the ground up with customer productivity and enhanced features as the driving goals, says said IGG president and founder Ian Gillespie. NV Energy announces solar agreement with Apple
NV Energy and Apple have reached an agreement to build 200 megawatts of additional solar energy in Nevada by early 2019. The projects will support Apple's renewable energy needs for its Reno data center.  In the coming weeks, NV Energy will file an application with the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada (PUCN) to enter into a power purchase agreement (PPA) for the solar power plant. The project will bring NV Energy's total to more than 529 megawatts of new solar resources in construction in Nevada or under review for approval. This is in addition to the 491 megawatts of universal solar resources in Nevada currently serving NV Energy customers. Apple will also dedicate up to 5 megawatts of power to NV Energy's future subscription solar program for residential and commercial customers. Apple releases new iOS, tvOS, and macOS developer betas
Apple has released three new developer betas: iOS 10.3, tvOS 10.2, and macOS 10.12.4. Developers can download the beta through the Apple Developer Center or the Software Update mechanism in the App Store. iOS 10.3 updates the file structure on an iOS device to the Apple File System (APFS). Apple posts tvOS 10.1.11, watchOS 3.1.3
Apple has posted tvOS 10.1.1 and watchOS 3.1.3. The former adds the new TV app as a central location for all of your favorite shows and movies. The latter has bug fixe and performance improvements. To upgrade to tvOS 10.1.1: ° Click on the Settings app from your Apple TV Home screen. ° Click on System. ° Click on Software Update. ° Click on Update Software. ° Click on Download and Install. 
To upgrade to watchOS 3.1.3: ° Connect your iPhone to Wi-Fi and launch the iOS 10 Watch app. ° Make sure your Apple Watch is charged to at least 50% and connect it to the magnetic charger. ° Tap on the My Watch tab. ° Tap on General. ° Tap on Software Update. ° Tap on Download and Install. ° Enter your iPhone Passcode when prompted. ° Tap Agree to the Terms and Conditions. ° Tap Proceed on your Apple Watch. ° Enter your Passcode on the smartwatch. Apple has updated its pro video apps: Final Cut Pro X, Motion and Compressor —with feature tweaks, performance improvements and bug fixes. Zoho has launched Notebook for Mac (http://zoho.to/notebook), a new, free note-taking app. Notebook's mobile apps introduced the concept of Note Cards: dedicated note types for text, checklists, audio, photos, and sketches. The same concept has been applied to the Mac app, creating a “simple and enjoyable note-taking experience,” according to Raju Vegesna, chief evangelist of Zoho. Apple has announced major updates to its music creation apps with new features for music makers of all levels on iPhone, iPad and Mac. Bluetooth 5 is now available
The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) officially adopted Bluetooth 5 (www.bluetooth.com/bluetooth5) as the latest version of the Bluetooth core specification. Consumers can expect to see products supporting the spec in two to six months. Key updates to Bluetooth 5 include longer range, faster speed, and larger broadcast message capacity, as well as improved interoperability and coexistence with other wireless technologies, according to Mark Powell, executive director of the Bluetooth SIG. He adds that feature updates include four times range, two times speed, and eight times broadcast message capacity. Longer range powers whole home and building coverage, for more robust and reliable connections. Higher speed enables more responsive, high-performance devices. Apple has released a supplemental security update for Mac OS X El Capitan (the predecessor to macOS Sierra. According to Apple, it “fixes a kernel issue that may cause your Mac to occasionally become unresponsive.” The update originally was released in December 2016, but has been reissued. You can obtain the update by launching the Mac App Store app, then checking for updates.

Ergonis Software (www.ergonis.com) has announced Typinator 7.1, a new version of their text expander for macOS. It’s a tool for automating the process of inserting frequently used text and auto-correcting typing errors. In the new version, the new powerful input forms are no longer modal. While an input form is open, it is now possible to temporarily switch to other windows, for example to copy/paste text into form fields. The new version also offers further enhancements and compatibility improvements with macOS Sierra and third-party applications. Typinator requires macOS 10.6 or newer.
