Andrei Doubrovski rolls out Elements+ 10
Andrei Doubrovski has rolled out Elements+ 10, an update of his enhancement patch for Adobe Photoshop Elements. Featuring hundreds of tools, including missing adjustments, smart filters, and more, it’s an add-on that unlocks the undocumented advanced functions in Photoshop Elements+ featured in the latest versions of Photoshop. Version 10 includes some extra adjustments, smart filters, vector masks, and many more advanced tools normally hidden under the hood. Elements+ 10 requires macOS 10.4.11 or later and costs $12. Station for macOS upgraded to version 1.4
True North Software has released Station 1.4, an update of their multilevel (hierarchical) launcher for macOS. With nested folders, you can arrange items in Station in a way that fits your workflow. In version 1.4, scalability is greatly increased through logical groupings , increasing the sheer number of items that can be added to the app without having to shrink the launcher size. In the preferences of Station 1.4, you can specify if you want the software to justify the panels to the left, center, or right. Also, a "Populate Folder Icons" menu item was added to the Station icon, allowing you to automatically populate folder icons. Station 1.4 requires macOS 10.11 or higher and costs $14.99. App Tamer for macOS revved to version 2.3.3
St. Clair Software has updated App Tamer, its Mac utility for managing applications to yield more efficient CPU usage, increased battery life and quieter operation. The utility’s AutoStop capability automatically slows down or pauses applications when you switch away from them, and then restarts them when you click back to them. Version 2.3.3 offers a new option to speed up Time Machine backups and addresses a number of other issues. App Tamer runs on macOS 10.8 or higher. Apple releases iOS 11.0.3
Apple has released iOS 11.0.3. It can be downloaded for free on all eligible devices over-the-air in the Settings app. To access the update, go to Settings --> General --> Software Update. According to Apple, iOS 11.0.3 fixes an issue where audio and haptic feedback would not work on some iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus devices. It also addresses an issue where touch input was unresponsive on some iPhone 6s displays because “they were not serviced with genuine Apple parts.”

Sonnet Technologies has unveiled the Allegro USB-C PCIe card, a two-port USB-C 3.1 adapter card that enables data transfers from connected devices at speeds up to 960 MB/s. AKVIS releases SmartMask 10 for macOS
AKVIS (www.akvis.com) has released SmartMask 10, a selection tool designed to make image masking fun and simple. Version 10 provides users with the new Refine Radius tool, enhanced Magic Brush tool, and other improvements. AKVIS SmartMask allows switching between Auto and Manual modes to achieve the best possible result with any photo. For more nuanced and precise excision of a monochrome background, SmartMask offers the Chroma Key mode. Zevrix Solutions has announced Deliver Express 2.6.4 a compatibility update to the company's hot folder-based file transfer automation solution. It supports FTP, SFTP, Amazon S3, WebDAV and other remote and local services. The software offers automatic email notifications, file compression, upload history and more. ProjectWizards conjures up Merlin Project 4.3
ProjectWizards (www.projectwizards.com) has conjured up version 4.3 of Merlin Project, its project management software for macOS. The app is is now optimized for mac OS High Sierra. Trammell Hudson to keynote MacTech Conference
The keynote for MacTech Conference will be Trammell Hudson of Thunderstrike and Magic Lantern fame. He’s a programmer and reverse engineer who focuses on low-level software and hardware security. At Two Sigma Investments, Hudson is a security researcher and is developing Heads, an open source firmware for slightly more secure systems. Previously he developed lightweight operating system kernels and message passing systems for the world’s fastest supercomputers at Sandia National Labs. Trammell’s security research into Apple’s hardware resulted in Thunderstrike and Thunderstrike II, the first proof-of-concept firmware rootkits for MacBooks. After working with Apple to patch the underlying vulnerabilities, he presented his findings at CCC, BlackHat and DEFCON. Version 19.1 of Oxygen XML Editor products released

Disk Drill Now Supports macOS 10.13 High Sierra and APFS

Quark Announces Update to InDesign Exporter for App Studio
Quark has released InDesign Exporter 3.01, the App Studio plug-in that is now compatible with Adobe InDesign CC2017. The completely redesigned plug-in has an improved user interface and enhanced performance with App Studio publishing. Users can download the new plug-in for free from Adobe Exchange Add-ons. This version is only compatible with Adobe InDesign CC2017. If using older versions of Adobe InDesign, users should continue to use the previous plug-ins from the App Studio Documentation Web site.

Code Line (www.code-line.com) has updated Art View 2, the Quick Look enhancement for Adobe Creative Cloud and Creative Suite documents. The utility allows users to preview, inspect, and reveal dependent font and image files from within Apple's Quick Look preview feature. Version 2.0.2 includes support for Adobe Creative Cloud and High Sierra. Art View works whether or not you have Adobe Creative Cloud installed on your system. Art View 2 (2.0.2) is available as a free, 15-day demo and is available for purchase online. A single-user license is $24.95. Art View requires macOS 10.7 or later.

Package Central for Adobe InDesign Now Supports macOS High Sierr
Zevrix Solutions has announced Package Central 1.10, a compatibility update to company's document packaging automation solution for Adobe InDesign. The software automates InDesign document collection by processing files from watched hot folders. Package Central can serve unlimited users on a network and offers email notifications, variable folder names, PDF/IDML export, and more. With the new version, the app is upgraded to 64-bit architecture and introduces support for macOS 10.13 High Sierra. Package Central can be purchased for $149.95 from the Zevrix website (www.zevrix.com). A demo is available for download. Package Central requires macOS 10.7-10.13 and Adobe InDesign CS5-CC 2017.

Apple releases iOS 11.0.1 software update
Apple has released iOS 11.0.1. It’s a maintenance release with “bug fixes and improvements for your iPhone or iPad,” according to Apple. The iOS 11.0.1 update can be downloaded over-the-air in the Settings app. To access the update, go to Settings --> General --> Software Update.

SoftRAID 5.6.3 revved for macOS High Sierra
OWC has upgraded SoftRAID (www.softraid.com) to version 5.6.3, which adds macOS High Sierra compatibility. The app keeps files protected against disk failure. SoftRAID 5.6.3 features an optimized driver that provides a software RAID solution that equals and can often exceed the performance and reliability of dedicated hardware RAID controllers, according to the folks at OWC. In addition, it provides advanced disk testing, logging, disk health monitoring, and a e disk failure prediction system for advanced warning of potential disk problems to protect users from catastrophic data loss. SoftRAID 5.6.3 requires macOS 10.6.8 or later. Support for TRIM commands on SSDs requires macOS 10.7.5 or later. Priced at $179, the full version of SoftRAID supports five RAID levels (0, 1, 4, 5 & 1+0), plus email notifications of potential disk failure, and command line support.
