Troi Automatisering (www.troi.com) has released Troi File Plug-in 8.6 for FileMaker Pro 14. It’s an update of the plug-in for manipulating external files and folders directly from FileMaker Pro.
The new version has improved compatibility with macOS Sierra. It adds a new TrFile_GetIcon function, which gets the icon of a file. It can create icons in sizes varying from 16x16 to 1024x1024 pixels and with double resolution for retina screens.
Troi File Plug-in 8.6 adds a new switch "-CreatePNG" to the TrFile_CreateThumbnail function; this will give as result a thumbnail in the PNG format, with an alpha channel. This means that the thumbnail will have the same transparent areas as the original image. There’s also improved support for PDF/X files, which enables you to determine if a file confirms to the PDF/X standard.

Enterprise AR App Revenues to Approach $6 billion By 2021
A new Juniper Research (www.juniperresearch.com) study has found that consumer app revenues from augmented reality (AR) will remain below that of the enterprise sector through to 2021, despite the high visibility of games such as Pokémon GO. Juniper forecasts that revenues from enterprise AR apps will reach $5.7 billion by 2021, rising tenfold from an estimated $515 million in 2016, according to the research group.
The research found that enterprise interest in AR technologies has continued to grow, fueled by improvements in field of vision and latency on HMDs (Head Mounted Displays). Future releases of these units, such as Microsoft HoloLens, are set to drive AR content revenues in the enterprise sector as businesses opt for HMDs over smartphones and tablets, according to Juniper Research.

Apple has released iOS 10.0.2. It addresses an issue that could prevent headphone audio controls from temporarily not working.

Jumsoft (www.jumsoft.com) has announced changes in the suite of its Toolbox applications. Toolboxes for Pages, Keynote, iWork, and Microsoft Office have been given a major interface revamp, including a tag-based search feature to make browsing through thousands of items much easier.
In addition, all Toolboxes are compatible with the new macOS Sierra. Jumsoft's various Toolbox apps provide templates and illustrations for iWork and MS Office for Mac.

MathWorks (www.mathworks.com) has introduced Release 2016b (R2016b) with new capabilities that simplify working with big data in MATLAB.
Engineers and scientists can now more easily work with data too big to fit in memory. R2016b also includes additional features in Simulink; a new product, Risk Management Toolbox; and updates and bug fixes to 83 other products.
Tall arrays now provide a way to work naturally with out-of-memory data using familiar MATLAB functions and syntax, removing the need to learn big data programming. Engineers and scientists can use tall arrays with hundreds of math, statistics, and machine learning algorithms. Code can run on Hadoop clusters or be integrated directly into Spark applications.
R2016b also includes a timetable data container for indexing and synchronizing time-stamped tabular data; string arrays to help manipulate, compare, and store text data efficiently; and new functions for preprocessing data.

Apple has released a second gold master of macOS Sierra to developers, even though the finished version of the operating system is due next week.
A golden master is a final version of software ready for release to manufacturing. The first non-beta version of macOS Sierra is due to arrive on Tuesday, Sept 20.
