Apple has released a finished version of macOS X Sierra. It’s a free download at the Mac App Store. It adds Siri support, Apple Pay support, a Universal Clipboard, and much more. macOS Sierra requires a 2009 iMac, 2009 MacBook, 2010 MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, Mac mini, or Mac Pro.

Jumsoft ( has announced changes in the suite of its Toolbox applications. Toolboxes for Pages, Keynote, iWork, and Microsoft Office have been given a major interface revamp, including a tag-based search feature to make browsing through thousands of items much easier. MathWorks ( has introduced Release 2016b (R2016b) with new capabilities that simplify working with big data in MATLAB. Engineers and scientists can now more easily work with data too big to fit in memory. R2016b also includes additional features in Simulink; a new product, Risk Management Toolbox; and updates and bug fixes to 83 other products. Tall arrays now provide a way to work naturally with out-of-memory data using familiar MATLAB functions and syntax, removing the need to learn big data programming. Engineers and scientists can use tall arrays with hundreds of math, statistics, and machine learning algorithms. Code can run on Hadoop clusters or be integrated directly into Spark applications. R2016b also includes a timetable data container for indexing and synchronizing time-stamped tabular data; string arrays to help manipulate, compare, and store text data efficiently; and new functions for preprocessing data.

Camera Guard Pro available for Mac OS X
Miami-based security solutions company, ProtectStar, has launched Camera Guard Professional for Mac 2016 (, a security solution designed to protect any Mac's webcam and microphone from being accessed by hackers, spyware or malware. It runs in the background, constantly monitoring for applications or processes that attempt to access the Mac's camera or microphone. The app blocks any attempted access, and immediately informs the user of the access attempt, according to ProtectStar CEO Chris Bohn. Camera Guard Professional also offers an added layer of security by protecting the individual settings of the software via a Personal Identification Number (PIN) that the user creates and enters. Any changes to the settings of the app will then require the entry of that PIN in order to take effect. SimpleumSafe for OS X gets a maintenance upgrade
Simpleum Media ( has announced SimpleumSafe 1.1.1, an update to their Mac OS X encryption app for password-based encryption of personal and professional data. It uses AES-256 encryption technology. With SimpleumSafe, you can create and use different safes at various locations such as hard disk, USB flash drive or cloud storage. The size and number of files to be encrypted is only limited by the capacity of the selected storage medium. Version 1.1.1 fixes a bug where SimpleumSafe could crash in some circumstances when editing a file with an external App. SimpleumSafe requires OS X 10.10 or higher. 3D scanner launches on the Mac
Fuel3D (, a 3D capture and imaging company, has updated its Fuel3D Studio software. In addition to several new features, the software is now available for OS X, making SCANIFY, the company’s high speed 3D scanner, available to Mac users for the first time. The $1,490 SCARIFY is a handheld, point-and-shoot 3D scanner that captures high-resolution, color 3D models of objects in in under 0.1 seconds, according to Fuel3D CEO Stuart Mead. The scanner is designed for use across a range of 3D applications, including 3D printing and personalization, as well as on-screen applications like 3D animation and virtual reality.
