iMate Makes the Right Connections

Nashville, TN — July 17, 1998 — Griffin Technology, Inc. today announced
the iMate USB to ADB adapter which allows users to take advantage of any
ADB device on newer iMac models. Until now users of the upcoming iMac
systems would be restricted to the included Apple mouse and keyboard. The
iMate opens an entire world of standard ADB devices to iMac users including
mice, keyboards, trackballs, joystics, trackpads. Future support also will
include other ADB devices such as dongles and Applevision displays. “You
will now be able use any ADB peripheral that you can buy at a computer or
discount store”, says Paul Griffin, CEO of Griffin Technology Corporation.

At $29.00, Griffin Technology’s iMate adapter will offer a great solution
for all Macintosh computer users. The adapter is fully compliant with all
Apple and third party ADB devices. ADB devices can be daisy chained just as
can be done on current Macs. And users are not restricted to just ADB. USB
keyboards and ADB devices can be mixed and matched. The iMate will ship in
mid August in time for the Apple iMac rollout.

Apple has made a strategic and revolutionary change in the computer
industry by being the first to only support USB input devices. Apple has
also said that future Macs will also only support USB and that ADB will be
phased out in future models. The iMate will ease the transition period by
offering a large number of compatibility options immediately for users.

The iMate adapter will be compatible with the iMac computers scheduled to
ship in August as well as all Mac models with a PCI slot using the Griffin
Technology Power USB card. It will also be compatible with future Mac
models with built in USB ports. It can additionally be used with any PC
equipped with a USB port and Windows 98 making it the perfect Mac/PC
connectivity product.
