[NPL] Macworld Expo - New Pavilions

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MACWORLD Expo/San Francisco adds NetInnovators and Consumer Showcase to
Special Interest Environments

MACWORLD Expo also to feature Corporate Buyers Alliance, connecting
exhibitors with corporate buyers

SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 18, 1998 MACWORLD Expo/San Francisco 99, Jan. 4 -- 8
at the Moscone Convention Center, will feature two new "Special Interest
Environments" geared to consumers, network administrators, web developers
and gaming aficionados, IDG Expo Management Co., producers of the show,
announced today.

"Net Innovators" and "Consumer Showcase," which includes the Macintosh
Gaming Championship and Exhibits, will appear for the first time on the
show floor alongside other successful and long-running MACWORLD Expo/San
Francisco special interest areas, such as: "Developer Central," the
"Education District," "Business Solutions," "Extensions Workshop for
Creative Content," "Digital Media Studio Featuring QuickTime," and
"Digital Art Gallery."

"The Special Interest Environments have always been a successful platform
which allow attendees to test the increasing number of hot, new tools and
applications and to meet the experts behind those technologies," said Rob
Scheschareg, MACWORLD Expo show director. "We are excited to add the two
new special interest areas -- Net Innovators and Consumer Showcase.
Whether you are a software developer, programmer, Mac professional or
consumer, you will find a specialized area tailored to meet your interests
at MACWORLD Expo/San Francisco."

In addition to the new special interest environments, IDG Expo Management
also announced a new program, the "Corporate Buyers Alliance," which will
allow exhibitors to distinguish corporate buyers from other attendees
walking the show floor by looking for the special Corporate Buyers Alliance
ribbons participants are wearing. Under the program, corporate buyers will
be granted special ribbons to wear while on the show floor and will have
the opportunity to congregate in a special lounge to network with other
members and participating exhibitors. Exhibitors also will receive a
special logo for display on their booth.

"The Corporate Buyers Alliance underscores MACWORLD Expo's prominence as
the leading IT trade show where deals are brokered and contracts signed,"
said Scheschareg. "As we have in years past, we expect a high number of
corporate buyers at MACWORLD Expo/San Francisco. This program is designed
to match up the buyers directly with the sellers."

For Consumers

For the consumer market, The Consumer Showcase, sponsored by Apple, will
focus on entertainment, small office/home office, home learning, music,
design and crafts. This special interest environment builds upon the
successful launch of the iMac computer, and the growing number of new
applications developed for it, used by consumers and small office/home
office workers, among others, in their personal and professional lives.

Just a few short steps away from the Consumer Showcase, The National
Macintosh Gaming Championship and Exhibits produced by Double Exposure and
sponsored by Macworld Magazine, iMacworld, MacCentral and MacSoft will
showcase the latest in gaming titles for the iMac and other Mac products.
The Gaming Exhibits will allow attendees to try out the latest games, speak
with designers and programmers of the latest games and purchase the latest
products at tremendous show discounts.

With over $20,000 in prizes, the National Macintosh Gaming Championship, a
first for MACWORLD Expo/San Francisco, will be played while an audience
watches. The Gaming Championships is new to MACWORLD Expo/San Francisco,
since it premiered at MACWORLD Expo/New York this summer. In order to
participate in the Championships, participants must be registered to attend
MACWORLD Expo/San Francisco. To enter the National Macintosh Gaming
Championship, please visit http://www.io.com/~salvius/nmgc1999.html.

For Web Developers and Network Administrators

Debuting this year, for web developers and network administrators, the
NetInnovators special interest environment will focus on Internet- and Mac
OS networking-based tools and services necessary to building and supporting
network products, services and applications.

Co-sponsored by Apple Computer and NetProfessional Magazine, NetInnovators
will feature AppleTalk and platform-neutral technologies that allow the Mac
to help shape enterprise-wide communications networks.

For Software Developers and Programmers

Designed specifically for software developers and programmers, Developer
Central, co-sponsored by Apple and MacTech Magazine, is the resource center
for access to applications, custom solutions, multimedia, and scientific
and engineering solutions for the Mac OS.

Developers of all experience levels have access to all the tools and
information they need to build corporate and commercial applications. Apple
Computer representatives and other third parties will be available to
answer questions regarding products, tools and services presented.

For Educators

Schools, training and district-level issues are the focus areas for this
newly expanded Education District. With technology coming in to the
classroom, educators will be able to test and learn effective ways to use
tools such as, QuickTime, ClarisWorks, Image conversion with PictureViewer,
using MoviePlayer as a video-editing tool and the iMac. Attendees will be
able to speak with experts from Apple regarding tools for education.

For Corporate Executive, the Small Business Owner and the At Home Worker

The Business Solutions environment is the place to be for answers to
business needs and to see the latest in Mac business products. The
environment allows attendees to test new business management productivity
and accounting solutions.

From tools for building an Intranet to telecommuting essentials, this
environment has the solutions for businesses. See the performance of the
Mac platform for business and the products that continue the workflow,
increase productivity and also allow the flexibility of working from home.
For Media Professionals Created for media professionals, the Digital Media
Studio Featuring QuickTime is the environment for those interested in
Motion Graphic Design, DVD, MPEG standards, video streaming and asset
management. Digital Media Studio Featuring QuickTime has received
endorsements from the Digital Video Professionals Association and the
Broadcast Design Association.
"In the creative field, more and more graphic designers are migrating to
motion graphic designing," said Scheschareg. "Because of this, we have
brought the latest tools for both under one special interest environment."
For Creative Professionals

Extensions Workshop for Creative Content, sponsored by The Worldwide Power
Company LLC, and Xchange NA, consists of the most popular tools and
services in desktop publishing and pre-press applications. From Portable
Document Format (PDF) Development to digital proofing, this environment has
all the essential tools for creative professionals who use computers in
their daily jobs to publish digital content online or on paper.

At the sites, attendees will be able to experiment with the latest
products, tools and services with guidance and support from Apple and other
third parties. For more information on any of these special interest
areas, please visit http://www.macworldexpo.com
