ROCKSTAR SOFTWARE SHIPS THE INTERNET SETUP MONKEY 4.0

– Admin Kit for ISPs and enterprise service providers delivers remote
software installation, Internet configuration and service sign-up
through a distributable Internet Access Kit –

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., FEBRUARY 10, 1999 – Rockstar Software.,
developers of Internet access utilities including FreePPP and
GearBox, has begun shipping the Internet Setup Monkey 4.0 for
Macintosh. The Internet Setup Monkey Admin Kit (“ISMAK”) allows
Internet Service Providers and enterprise network administrators to
build custom Internet access kits for users-providing software
installation, system and application configuration, and new user
registration sign-up capabilities in a distributable access kit. A
demo version is available at www.rockstar.com along with license
pricing.

Most significantly, the latest version of Internet Setup Monkey
includes support for its companion product, the Gearbox Connection
Kit. Internet Service Providers and network administrators can now
lower ongoing customer support costs and enhance content delivery by
delivering customized, branded versions of the Gearbox client with
the new Internet Setup Monkey.

Other significant changes in version 4.0 include enhanced
customization options, expanded application configuration options and
support for MacOS 8.5. Administrators now have the ability to easily
customize any string or graphic from the administration kit.
Application support has been updated for the latest versions of
Internet software and the setup kit now supports the MacOS from
System 7.1 to System 8.5.

“With ISM 4.0, commercial and corporate Internet Service Providers
have a total solution to effortlessly sign up and retain new
customers,” comments Gregor Downey, Rockstar Software. “The
administrator can remotely install Internet applications, configure
the software and the system, and allow the user to sign on to the
service automatically. Combine this with the ongoing diagnostic,
profiling, and messaging of the Gearbox client and you have a
solution that significantly lowers the cost of customer support.”

Fueling interest for the ISMAK, a survey commissioned by Rockstar
Software of service provider customers found technical support
savings averaging 62% when using the ISM Admin Kit. The most
significant expense for accounts is primarily from initial setup and
configuration of the remote client-usually from costly phone support
required to get the user’s computer configured properly. Further
survey details are available by contacting the Company (415.242.1984;
www.rockstar.com).
