FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

ClearWay Releases New “AdScreen” Filter for Fast, Banner-Free Surfing

— New package transforms slow-loading ad graphics into instant-loading text —

December 2nd, 1998. ClearWay Technologies, Inc. today announced “ClearWay
AdScreen”, a new Internet filtering product that replaces slow-loading ad
banners with instant-loading text. By removing sluggish ad graphics,
AdScreen dramatically speeds up Web surfing and helps reduce the clutter
caused by Web advertising graphics. AdScreen is the Web’s first proxy
extension to focus on streamlining Web ads. A public beta is available
immediately from:

AdScreen is a new class of proxy-level Internet filter that focuses on
improving the speed and quality of Web surfing for an entire network.
Classroom users can set AdScreen to hide distracting and inappropriate Web
ads entirely, to help make the most of limited class and computer time.
Business users will appreciate AdScreen’s ability to display the focused
message of advertisements quickly as plain text without cluttered, flashy
graphics.

Designed for network-wide use in offices and classrooms, AdScreen operates
as a plug-in extension to popular Web proxies including Maxum Development’s
new WebDoubler caching proxy server for Mac OS. By operating at the proxy
level, only one copy of AdScreen is needed to screen ads and speed up an
entire school or office. The full release of AdScreen 1.0 is expected later
in December; final pricing has not been set.
