Appgen releases Moneydance personal finance software for Mac OS X

First personal finance package written in Java to take advantage of Aqua
interface

San Francisco, January 8, 2001- MACWORLD-Appgen Business Software, Inc
(Hauppauge, NY), a leader in cross-platform software, announced today that
they will demonstrate for the first time, a Mac OS X version of Moneydance,
Appgens popular personal finance manager, at Macworld Conference & Expo
(San Francisco, January 9-12, 2001). Moneydance is the first personal
finance manager written in Java that takes advantage of Apples new Aqua
user interface on Mac OS X.

Moneydance is now available for Mac OS, Linux, FreeBSD, OS/2, Solaris,
Windows 95, 98, NT and 2000 operating systems, making it a truly universal
product with potentially unlimited online banking capabilities, said Jim
Kelly, President and CEO of Appgen Business Software, Inc. Mac OS X
presents a great opportunity for Appgen to move all of our mission critical
business products to the Mac market and Moneydance is the first of several
products we plan on bringing out for Apples next generation operating
system.

I was able to completely bring Moneydance to Mac OS X in less than one
day, said Sean Reilly, Appgens chief technology officer in charge of Java
product development. This process proceeded so quickly because Appgen uses
Suns JFC/Swing classes which Apple has mapped directly to the Aqua
interface on Mac OS X.

Mac OS X, with its UNIX-based architecture, delivers incredible
performance and reliability and were thrilled to see Unix and Linux
developers embracing what the system has to offer, said Clent Richardson,
Apples vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations. Appgens
Moneydance is an impressive Java-based application that will make
management of personal finances fast and easy for Mac users.

About Moneydance
Moneydance, Appgens first consumer product, is a truly universal personal
financial application that works on virtually any operating system, in many
languages, and it is designed to be intuitive and easy to use. Since
Moneydance is built on Java technology, it runs on Linux, FreeBSD, OS/2,
Solaris, Mac OS and Windows, and it is perfect for use on Internet
appliances and emerging technologies such as the Qubit WebTablet, and Java
Internet Phone.

Linux Journal called Moneydance the most Quicken-like in appearance in
its August 2000 review of personal finance software. Its easy-to-use
checkbook register-style interface contains many shortcuts, a
reconciliation tool simplifies checkbook balancing, cleared vs actual
account balances are updated as you work, and checks can be printed with or
without stubs.

Moneydance is a true double-entry accounting system that uses multiple
accounts to give a better understanding of any financial situation. It uses
QIF (Quicken Interchange Format) for file import and export and provides
customizable reports and graphs that can be created and printed in 3D and
2D formats for a truly accurate rendition of your financial picture.

Moneydance has been translated into Italian, German, French,
Brazilian/Portuguese, and Spanish. Moreover, Moneydance supports
multi-currencies (you can even define your own) and it can now store
historical exchange rates. Version 3.0 will provide additional features
such as online banking, investment management and budgeting tools, as well
as:

loan payment calculator that also calculates loan points vs rate
detailed transaction search function
printable calendar of reminders and upcoming transactions
XML export and import abilities
more account types, graphs and reports
