MGI 1.6 RELEASED COMPLETE WITH WEB-BASED EMAIL CAPABILITIES

PagePlanet Software, Inc. is proud to announce the latest release of its
product, Modular Gateway Interface (MGI) version 1.6, now complete with
web-based email along with email-to-database-to-web integration. MGI (a
plug-in to ACI’s award winning web server for the Macintosh, WebSTAR) is a
program that adds a host of functionality to any web site. Features include
forms processing, E-commerce, math functions, conditionals, database
integration, and much more. MGI contains over 70 individual functions which
can be combined in any number of ways allowing for tens of thousands of
different solutions to back-end integration of its features on a web site.
MGI’s new feature, mgiPOP, dramatically extends those functions to a whole
new level.

“Almost every business recently surveyed indicated that email was the most
important internet application driving e-commerce capabilities. Yet the
ability to integrate email correspondence into web-based database
applications was sorely missing from the on-line equation,” said Valerie
Crisp, president of PagePlanet Software, Inc.

With its new tag, mgiPOP, a database front-ended by a web interface is now
able to directly interact with an email POP server, gathering emails as
they arrive, inserting the parsed information into a database, and allow
manipulation of that data via a web interface or importation into another
program for features like mail-merge or order fulfillment. Though initially
designed for automating business applications such as on-line ordering,
web-based classified ads systems, and customer service trouble ticket
tracking, it was discovered that mgiPOP had another initially overlooked
feature — true web-based email.

“Using one of two modes, window mode [enabling web-based email] or client
mode [integrating email with database functions], mgiPOP can communicate
with any POP email server supporting the TOP or UIDL POP3 commands. Using a
web-based interface, mgiPOP in window mode can be used to read, respond to,
delete, compose, or forward email from any remote location using a browser.
mgiPOP in client mode can be used with MGI’s integrated database to
retrieve email from a server, deposit it into a database, and manipulate
that information in any number of ways via other MGI functions,” said
Travis Senter, lead Macintosh programmer for PagePlanet Software, Inc.

mgiPOP works in environments running EIMS or SIMS, the two most popular
email servers for the Macintosh market, as well as most email servers
running on Windows and UNIX-based systems. Installing mgiPOP on a web
server allows users to interact with virtually any email server in the
world no matter where they are located — true for both the servers and the
user.

MGI is available for purchase from the PagePlanet Software web site at
http://www.pageplanetsoftware.com

MGI is also available as a fully-functioning demo in downloadable,
electronic format. The MGI demo includes every feature available and
operates on a two-hour time out. When the two-hour demo period expires,
simply quit and relaunch WebSTAR and the clock starts over.

MGI comes in six different versions each with an ascending level of
functionality priced from $149 to $899 depending on the needs of server
administrators and their clients. The MGI Essentials packages includes
mgiPOP running in window mode while the Essentials Plus and Deluxe packages
run mgiPOP in both window and client mode.

About MGI: MGI was developed over four years to satisfy the needs of over
1600 web hosting clients using PagePlop Web Hosting Service of Raleigh,
North Carolina. The goals of MGI are ease of use even for those without a
bit of programming or scripting background (using an intuitive,
English-based tag structure,) being fully secure from intrusion, robust to
handle the needs of any small to medium-sized business, and scalable enough
to used as the web site grows. MGI is ideal for not only intranet use in
schools and businesses, but also internet integration in a single-domain or
multi-domain environment as seen at an ISP. All aspects of MGI are fully
tested under live-hosting conditions with operating web sites before being
released to the public. MGI is used by thousands of web sites at ISPs
located world-wide, major universities, and Fortune 500 companies.

About PagePlanet Software, Inc.: PagePlanet Software, Inc. is a privately
held corporation formed in 1998 to further develop and market MGI. The
company was founded on the principles that software needs to be designed
for use by those with minimal experience, yet designed with enough
flexibility to satisfy the needs of experienced programmers — and
developed driven by the needs of the end user rather than the comfort of
the product’s programmers. PagePlanet Software also firmly believes in
standing behind its products with world-class customer service and support
as well as a license policy that makes sense, i.e., 90-day money-back
guarantee, no-penalty upgrade path, and an allowable-use policy that takes
into consideration exceptions to the rules and emergency use under
unforseen circumstances.
