PACE Anti-Piracy Releases Version 2.0 of InterLok for Macintosh Upgrade
Extends Turnkey Protection to Plug-Ins, Enhances Compatibility and
Cross-Platform Integration

SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA – October 28, 1999 — PACE Anti-Piracy Inc., a leader
in the development of anti-piracy systems, today released version 2.0 of
InterLok(r) and InterLok(r) Pro for Macintosh. The upgrade adds a number of
powerful new features to InterLok and expands the range of executable types
that can be protected using its turnkey encryption and wrapping capability.
The new release also advances PACE’s multi-platform integration strategy,
improves performance of wrapped applications, implements a new wrapping
architecture for enhanced security, and adds support for Apple’s new Power
Macintosh G4 and “ROM-in-RAM” G3 systems running Mac OS 9. InterLok is
PACE’s fifth generation tool set for protecting, distributing and selling
software, and is widely used by developers of pro-audio, font, and graphics
software products.

New Features:
In addition to ensuring full compatibility with Apple’s new computers,
InterLok for Macintosh 2.0 includes a number of new features, including:

* Support for automatic encryption and wrapping of all Power Macintosh
native executables, including plug-ins, shared libraries, applications,
etc. Developers can now automatically integrate the InterLok encryption
wrapper into plug-ins and other non-application software without making
explicit API calls to PACE’s interface library.

* Support for InterLok for Windows options document format, providing the
ability to move InterLok options documents back and forth between Windows
and Macintosh platforms This expands previous versions’ support for
importing of Macintosh options into the Windows version.

* Dramatic performance enhancement for the load times of protected software
on machines with multiple hard drives.

* Support for wrapping executables that have multiple embedded shared
libraries. For applications, only the application PEF (PowerPC Executable
Format) is wrapped. For other executable types, only the first PEF in the
file is wrapped.

* Enhanced security from the new wrapping architecture.

* Increased flexibility regarding actions that can be invoked when a demo
is expired. For example, with this version a developer can now create a
demo that expires silently rather than prompting the demo user for
authorization.

Macintosh software developers who protect their products with PACE’s
InterLok system should upgrade to version 2.0 of InterLok. The new version
of the product is necessary to provide compatibility with Apple’s new Power
Macintosh G4 machines, or any “ROM-in-RAM” machine, including the iMac,
iBook, “bronze keyboard” PowerBook G3, and “blue and white” Power Macintosh
G3, running Mac OS 9. For existing applications that incorporate earlier
versions of InterLok, compatibility with these systems can be achieved
using version 2.0 of the PACE USB Floppy Enabler. This easily-installed
extension can be downloaded from PACE’s web site, and can be freely
redistributed by licensees under agreement with PACE.

Availability and Pricing:
InterLok for Macintosh 2.0 is available for download immediately from
PACE’s web site and is free of charge to current PACE licensees. More
