iPhone deals reached in Germany, Japan, Netherlands?
Macworld UK says that, in a similar move, Apple in Italy will allow local Apple Premium Resellers to offer the iPhone 3G through their stores, in this case supplementing the high street efforts of Vodafone and Telecom Italia, Apple's local carriers for Italy.
Softbank has says it will sell the iPhone 3G starting from 23,040 yen ($214.6) in Japan, reports Reuters. The Japanese carrier said the monthly charge for iPhone users would be 7,280 yen, including unlimited data-transmission usage, if subscribers sign up for a plan that allows them to talk free between Softbank subscribers most of the day. That would be nearly 70 percent higher than the firm's average income of 4,310 yen per user in the last quarter, notes Reuters.
Also, the iPhone 3G will be available through Apple resellers in the Netherlands, according to the MacWereld web site. The site says that several retailers claim to have made deals with T-Mobile, which will be the only legal vendor of the iPhone in the country.
Finally, an unauthorized Apple iPhone reseller has promised to deliver unlocked iPhone 3G handsets from a Hong Kong supplier selling for $775 and $875 in the week following the release of the Apple communications device in Australia on July 11, reports IT Wire. The reseller, based in Melbourne, claims to have already sold several hundred original iPhones to Australian customers.
