At Thursday’s shareholder meeting, Apple senior vice president of retail Ron Johnson said Apple is planning to open 25 retail stores in China, although he didn’t say when.

Apple opened its first Chinese retail store in Beijing in July 2008. Plans for a second store in Beijing were announced in mid-2009, but it still hasn’t materialized.

Apple now has 283 stores in 10 countries. Approximately 100 stores were remodeled during the 2009 calendar year and 10 new stores opened, including one in Louvre in Paris and Upper West Side in New York.
