Apple issues 2010 Progress Report on Supplier Responsibility
Apple has posted its "2010 Progress Report on Supplier Responsibility." Apple requires its suppliers to commit to their Supplier Code of Conduct as a condition of their contracts.
Apple says it drives compliance with the Code "through a rigorous monitoring program, including factory audits, corrective action plans, and verification measures." It also "helps our suppliers meet Apple’s expectations by supporting their efforts to provide training in workers’ rights and occupational health and safety."
"To further improve factory conditions, we proactively address industrywide issues through collaboration with our suppliers, government agencies, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), and other companies," Apple says. "And by making social responsibility a fundamental part of the way we do business, we insist that our suppliers take Apple’s Code as seriously as we do."
