MacTech Conference 2013: Hotel and Travel

As an immersive conference from morning until evening, you should plan on activities for the entire time you are at the conference -- and commonly, attendees gather, after hours in the lobby or patio of the hotel. Additional details on schedule will be disseminated closer to the event. But, without a doubt, the best experience will be for those who are staying at the Manhattan Beach Marriott (where the conference is) as it will give you the greatest exposure to meeting others, and talking with your peers. We have selected the Marriott not only for the conference space, but also for the quality of its rooms and location.


Schedule

For travel planning purposes, here are a couple of times you may want to know.

About the Hotel

The energetic and stylish Manhattan Beach Marriott Hotel offers a resort like feel, making it easy for guests to unwind and relax. Hotel Packages, Special Pricing, and Room Types

Special event hotel room rates are available to conference attendees and sponsors only. Once you've registered for the event, you can move forward and make your hotel reservations by Marriott Reservation line, or online. Haven't registered for the event yet? No problem, register now for MacTech Conference using this link.

Like a lot of quality hotels, the Manhattan Beach Marriott has different rates for different parts of the week (weekends costing less than during the weeknights). The weeknight rate is typically $249-$319 for a standard room, plus tax and service charges, and you pay for extras such as Internet (normally $12.95 per night).

We've been able to negotiate an awesome deal for you. Available on a first-come, first-served basis, MacTech Conference attendees get special group rates: $179 per night, and it includes hotel-provided internet in the guest rooms. (Applies to any of the nights from Monday through Thursday, November 4th through 7th.)

If you decide to come the weekend before, or stay after the event concludes on Fri afternoon, then we've been able to negotiate an even lower price! $149 per night, and includes Internet. (Applies to any of the nights from Friday through Sunday, November 1st through 3rd, and Friday through Sunday, November 8th through 10th.) If this year patterns the past, we expect a large number of people will stay at least Friday night, November 8th. A fair amount of people will take advantage of Southern California, and Manhattan Beach on the weekend either before or after, as well.

It's a bit complex, we know ... it's all about making sure you have the best deal.


Making Your Reservation

The easiest way to get the best deal is to call the Marriott Reservation line at 888-236-2427 and ask them for the "MacTech Conference Group Rate". They will automatically apply the right rate to the right nights, with Internet included.

BUT! You should register/reserve sooner as we're expecting the hotel to sell out just as it has in the past.

Room Types

Registered MacTech Conference attendees are welcome to take advantage of these options for guest rooms, all of which come with hotel provided guest room Internet as part of your package.

  • Standard Room for $179 per weeknight; $149 per weekend night (Normally: $249 for nights during the week)
    With a bigger than ever allocation of discounted rooms, these standard rooms typically have a City or non-Golf Course view.

  • Golf View Room for $219 per weeknight; $189 per weekend night (Normally: $289 for nights during the week)
    Golf view rooms are on the Golf Course side of the hotel on 5th floor and above.

  • Junior Suites for $350 per night
    Attendees need to call the hotel directly at 310-939-1431 and ask for Aivet Montenegro to reserve.

  • Executive Suites for $425 per night
    Attendees need to call the hotel directly at 310-939-1431 and ask for Aivet Montenegro to reserve.

All rooms in the hotel are non-smoking rooms, but the hotel does have designated smoking areas available. Price is the same for both single and double occupancy (more than 2 people have additional charges). Hotel room rates are subject to applicable state and local taxes (currently 10%), plus California Tourism Assessment Fee (currently $0.19) in effect at the time of check-out.

Parking is available on-site at the following rates.

  • Self-parking $21.00
  • Valet $26.00
  • in and out privileges are only for overnight guests
  • All parking rates are quoted exclusive of applicable state and local taxes, which is currently 10% and is subject to change without notice.

Designated hotel check in time is 4 P.M. Early check-in is based on availability and not guaranteed.

Flights and Airports

While you can fly into any of the five Los Angeles area airports, Los Angeles International (LAX) is next closest -- just 3 miles away. The best way to get from LAX to the hotel is a taxi.


Getting to the Marriott from LAX

There are three primary ways that people get from the airports to the hotel: rent a car, taxi, or shuttle services. Remember that if you rent a car, there's a charge for parking at the hotel. You won't need a car while at the conference as we've taken care of transportation from the Marriott to our other venues. See the hotel transportation page for more information and directions.

The most economical method, and the one that natives of Los Angeles tend to use most, are the shuttle van services. While there are a number of these, we can tell you that we've found PrimeTime, and Road Runner to all be reputable and typically has service from all major LA area airports. We've had complaints about some of the other name brand shuttle services.
