MacTech Conference 2013: Hotel and Travel

As an immersive conference from morning until evening, you should plan on activities for the entire time you are at the conference -- and commonly, attendees gather, after hours in the lobby or patio of the hotel. Additional details on schedule will be disseminated closer to the event. But, without a doubt, the best experience will be for those who are staying at the Manhattan Beach Marriott (where the conference is) as it will give you the greatest exposure to meeting others, and talking with your peers. We have selected the Marriott not only for the conference space, but also for the quality of its rooms and location.

About the Hotel

The energetic and stylish Manhattan Beach Marriott Hotel offers a resort like feel, making it easy for guests to unwind and relax. Located in the upscale South Bay area, the hotel in Manhattan Beach, CA sits on 26 beautifully landscaped acres, 3 miles south of the LAX Airport. Upon completion of a $7 million renovation, the hotel now features high speed Wi-Fi in all guest rooms (included in the MacTech special rate), helping guests stay connected.

The hotel's ideal location is within walking distance to area beaches, businesses and shopping, perfect for business or leisure travelers. Guests can enjoy a round of golf on the 9-hole course, a swim in the heated outdoor pool or a brisk workout in the health club. Experience a variety of delicious options in the View Restaurant or wind down in Escape, on the lobby level. At the Manhattan Beach Marriott, you can indulge yourself in the classic, laid-back lifestyle of sunny Southern California. The hotel does their part to keep California GREEN and we're proud that we're an Energy Star certified hotel.

Hotel Packages, Special Pricing, and Room Types

Special event hotel room rates are available to conference attendees and sponsors only. Once you've registered for the event, you can move forward and make your hotel reservations by Marriott Reservation line, or online. Haven't registered for the event yet? No problem, register now for MacTech Conference using this link.

Like a lot of quality hotels, the Manhattan Beach Marriott has different rates for different parts of the week (weekends costing less than during the weeknights). The weeknight rate is typically $249-$319 for a standard room, plus tax and service charges, and you pay for extras such as Internet (normally $12.95 per night).

We've been able to negotiate an awesome deal for you. Available on a first-come, first-served basis, MacTech Conference attendees get special group rates: $179 per night, and it includes hotel-provided internet in the guest rooms. (Applies to any of the nights from Monday through Thursday, November 4th through 7th.)

If you decide to come the weekend before, or stay after the event concludes on Fri afternoon, then we've been able to negotiate an even lower price! $149 per night, and includes Internet. (Applies to any of the nights from Friday through Sunday, November 1st through 3rd, and Friday through Sunday, November 8th through 10th.) If this year patterns the past, we expect a large number of people will stay at least Friday night, November 8th. A fair amount of people will take advantage of Southern California, and Manhattan Beach on the weekend either before or after, as well.

It's a bit complex, we know ... it's all about making sure you have the best deal.

Making Your Reservation

The easiest way to get the best deal is to call the Marriott Reservation line at 888-236-2427 and ask them for the "MacTech Conference Group Rate". They will automatically apply the right rate to the right nights, with Internet included.

Available on a first-come, first-served basis, MacTech,
BUT! You should register/reserve sooner as we're expecting the hotel to sell out just as it has in the past.

If you'd prefer to make your reservations online, you may need to make multiple reservations (because of the multiple rates). Use these links (all include Internet) for the dates/rates shown. Taxes and service charges are extra.

Flights and Airports

While you can fly into any of the five Los Angeles area airports, Los Angeles International (LAX) is next closest -- just 3 miles away. The best way to get from LAX to the hotel is a taxi.

Getting to the Marriott from LAX

There are three primary ways that people get from the airports to the hotel: rent a car, taxi, or shuttle services. Remember that if you rent a car, there's a charge for parking at the hotel. You won't need a car while at the conference as we've taken care of transportation from the Marriott to our other venues. See the hotel transportation page for more information and directions.

The most economical method, and the one that natives of Los Angeles tend to use most, are the shuttle van services. While there are a number of these, we can tell you that we've found PrimeTime, and Road Runner to all be reputable and typically has service from all major LA area airports. We've had complaints about some of the other name brand shuttle services.
