ABBYY has released a new version of ABBYY FineReader Pro for Mac. It’s now compatible with seven more languages — Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Hebrew and Arabic — bringing the number of supported languages to 180.

The application turns scanned paper documents, PDF files and digital camera images into searchable and editable files, maintaining the original formatting and layout. ABBYY FineReader Express Edition for Mac recognizes text a variety of languages and can distinguish multilingual documents containing up to three languages.

The application intelligently re-creates layout and formatting elements found in the original document including tables, columns, graphics, bullet points and numbering. It also supports the conversion of image-only and scanned PDFs into searchable PDF format.

ABBYY FineReader Pro for Mac is available via both the Mac App Store and ABBYY’s online store (http://tinyurl.com/mlftmo). Customers who have previous releases of the product can update them free of charge by downloading the update from the ABBYY web site or the Mac App Store for US$99.99.
