It’s hard to believe, but “DigiTimes” (www.digitimes.com) says China’s Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry), which manufacturers products for Apple and other companies, is considering building manufacturing plants in the US.

The company is reportedly conducting evaluations in cities such as Detroit and Los Angeles, the article says, quoting unnamed “market watchers.” Said watchers expect the rumored plants to focus on LCD TV production.

What’s more, Foxconn chairman Terry Guo has said that the company is planning a training program for US-based engineers, bringing them to Taiwan or China to take part in the processes of product design and manufacturing. “The program will give the engineers an environment to learn the Chinese language, first-hand expereince in the manufacturing process, and a training that can be helpful after they return to the US,” says “DigiTimes.”
