Apple sold 11.1 million iPads sold in its September quarter compared to 4.2 million in the year-ago quarter. That’s a 166% increase and revenue of US$6.9 billion.

The company launched launched the iPad 2 in an additional 28 countries. The Apple tablet is now on sale in 90 countries.

What’s more, though it’s been just 18 months since the iPad’s introduction, business adoption is heavy, says Apple CEO Tim Cook. He says that 92% of Fortune 500 companies are testing or deploying the device. Cook adds that, in time, the tablet market will be larger than the computer market.
