LaCie (http://www.lacie.com), together with Porsche Design, has announced a luxury line of hard drives available exclusively at Apple Stores and the LaCie web site. (Note: these are USB drives, not LaCie’s upcoming Thunderbolt drives.)
Echoing the design of Apple’s computers, peripherals and accessories, LaCie and Porsche Design present the LaCie Porsche Design Mobile (P’9221) and Desktop (P’9231) Hard Drives that are designed to fit right in with the Apple lifestyle. They feature “robust technology, a solid aluminum frame, and puristic design.” The aluminum frame of the LaCie Porsche Mobile and Desktop Hard Drives is designed to blend with the aluminum exterior of Apple’s MacBook Pro and MacBook Air. The aluminum also regulates heat for guaranteed performance. For the environment, the aluminum frame is 100% recyclable.
The LaCie Porsche Mobile (P’9221) comes in 500GB and 1TB capacities, while the LaCie Porsche Desktop (P’9231) comes in 1TB and 2TB capacities. Pricing starts at US$99.99.
